Group A Brazil Croatia
Group B Spain Holland
Group C Japan Ivory Coast
Group D Uruguay England
Group E Switzerland France
Group F Argentina Nigeria
Group G Germany Portugal
Group H Belguim Russia
Why is group C not the group of death? All teams are equal in terms of efficiency and/or deficiency.

Though I am not a fan of England football team, I dont think they should be rank outsiders to qualify from the group. Costa Rica are beatable and Italy are not the force they used to be. They are over dependent on Pirlo's brilliance. Uruguay should be topping the table with 50% chance of England or Italy qualifying.

I also make no apology, I don't like England and want them to fail. The media have already started making excuses ready for when they don't qualify from the groups. No doubt it'll be some sort of scouse like excuse, instead of "well at least we've won the European cup 5 times", it'll be "well it was a tough group and we didn't get into the last 16 but at least we won it in 1966". But ultimately "humidity" is going to be up there, even though 31 other teams will have to deal with it aswell. In fairness, no English person would refer to 66 if they were knocked out and I don't recall anyone in the past saying 'we were poor this year but at least we've won it before'. Expectations were incredibly low even before the draw was made. I personally like to see the home nations doing well, but the hatred of the English from the likes of Scotland and Wales is like, say, Everton fans hating United because they have been successful in the past. They think they are rivals because they are quite local, but on reality it's just more bitterness at success and success breeds jealousy. Not that I'm a massive England fan. I used to give a shit and was gutted they were getting knocked out, then United players were blamed so I fucked them off. Now I'm trying to give a shit again.

You know this is a United forum, right? United > England. It's also the "General Football" section, for discussion of football not related to United.

Hold the phone. England's 'past success'? You mean that one World Cup win a half-lifetime ago? The 'Auld Enemy' rivalry has been going on since 1872. Waaay before 1966. That isn't based on jealousy. I hate England now and it has nothing to do with jealousy - I'm proud of that World Cup win. It was a British achievement then, everyone was a part of it. Look at the footage and Wembley is adorned with Union flags as well with St. Georges' Crosses. I used to support England too. I was even one of the first to JJB when the Euro 2000 (maybe? It was a plain one, with, like, embedded stripes going across the chest?) shirt came out. Then I grew up and learned exactly what most England supporters thought of us. Condescension. Smugness. Misplaced and unjustifiable superiority. We're to be laughed at, not supported as a fellow home nation. Ian Wright's reaction to when we beat England in 2005 is a perfect example of the arrogance and self-righteous horse shite I cannot stand. The F. A. is a joke, and in general loathes United. There is always a deluded sense of 'deserving' things. The majority of 'Ingurlund' supporters are ABUs, who revel in United failures but demand excellence from our English players in a white shirt. They pick complete c*nts to play for them in spite of everything that is moral and decent. They pick players based on the club they play for rather than ability. Until all that changes, fuck England. Hope they're going home after three games.

I'm quite happy with that draw, a tough group it that'll make it more interesting. We'll have to hit the ground running to stand any chance. Better than limping through a dead rubber group before going out to the first half decent team we meet. Bit weird that Italy, Uruguay and England could meet, especially looking at some of the other groups.

That people who don't like England will keep their shit to themselves and respect the fact that its a sub-section for non-United discussion? Seriously, there's only so many times people can say "HURHURHURHUR I HAET INGURLAND!!!" without it getting quite boring. Yeah, we get it, lots of United fans don't like England. Some of us do and would like to perhaps discuss it without the thread being shat on.

Hope they're going home after three games. By success, it's more towards the qualifying (almost all the time) to the big tournaments compared to the other home nations, rather than the one success, although that one success is still big bearing in mind that only 8 nations have won the World cup. Also, as I mentioned, the past couple of tournaments, nobody is expecting anything of England, so I don't see a sense of 'deserving things' therefore, no smugness. Also, yeah, the FA is a joke, they treat United like shit, I loathe most players in the current set up and their fans hate on United while they play, but it's still my country. Like I said, I'll never be a massive fan of England, but a World cup win would be massive and a real boost to this fucked up nation.

Not all the members on this forum are English and you can't expect everyone to support or not hate them. How is this any different from our differing opinions on afro or DM?? Of-course I respect peeps getting behind their NT but no one can whinge that all this Eng bashing is becoming tiresome. Everyone has their reasons as do I.. Just ignore it if you don't like..

Create your own bloody thread for England bashing then if everyone is so into it! Or you could start an England Fan Club thread?
