I'm starting a job near sankey soap in a few weeks. Pizza for dinner then...

Lovely suggestions in here, some I didn't know before. Will definitely try some of those after the Burnley game.

A question though - where can I have some great Irish coffee there?

Lads, wee cafe called Munch in the Royal Exchange Arcade past the Arndale. Phemonenal grub, particularly breakfasts. Get on it. I've just tried finding this as I'm working right near there. Gone. Or I'm blind!! Probably the latter. I had to go gregges instead. Gutted!!

Got there for the first game of last season and found it closed with a note on the doors. Absolutely gutted. Was genuinely a little bit heartbroken. Still am, thanks for reminding me!

Wahaca opened in Manc last year, and is filling the Lucha Libre shaped hole in my Mexican grub loving heart. It's in the Triangle/Exhange Square.

Chaps,
My nephew is off to the derby next week with his mate. They’re both 18. I think they plan on heading into the city after the match. In my experience the City centre is overwhelmingly red but is there any places or things you’d recommend they avoid? His mum (my sister) is a tad nervous given it’s the first overseas trip he’s going on, on his own? I suppose the worry might be a couple of City knackers might fancy a scrap if they end up in the wrong place or wrong area. I’ve recommended sticking to Deansgate.
What do you reckon?

They should be fine on Deansgate. There's a pub at the bottom end near the Hilton which gets busy after the match. Then at the other end is moon under the water etc. Probably better off not going to ice in the printworks as it usually kicks off in there.

Just don't go to the Printworks full stop. NQ is your best bet for younger lads, it's a bit more 'hip'. No colours in most places though, but guessing they're savvy lads and don't wear football shirts as a casual thing anyway Plus, the ladies in NQ are much easier on the eye, IMO than Deansgate. Avoid anything central though, like the Wetherspoons near Picadilly Gardens and the other dump a bit further up the Station Approach. Otherwise, it won't be too bad as long as they're not going off singing United songs. Just a case of being aware of your surroundings.

Found a cracking little take away called RADs. It's on jersey street opposite sankey soap. Caribbean food. Lovely.

Second City Sports Bar got done over the other day. Gutted, great place.
B:Eat Street is expanding, so that's nice.
Refuge next Palace Theatre looks a real nice place. Not been in myself though.
Manchester is booming right now. Love living here at the minute.
