| FEATURES 16/05/2016 09:36, Report by Juan Mata MATA BLOGS ON UNITED'S ABANDONED MATCH Each and every Monday, Manchester United forward Juan Mata reflects on his experiences on and off the pitch in his personally-written blog. His latest effort leads on Sunday's match against Bournemouth being abandoned following the discovery of a suspect package... Hi everyone,
This is one of the weirdest blog entries I've written, and it's been almost four years since I started this blog. What happened in Old Trafford this Sunday left all of us who were there absolutely shocked. You know, the game being postponed (we will finally play on Tuesday) after a suspect package - that we were told could be an explosive - was found in the stadium. Everybody in the security team did an effective job, resulting in a quick evacuation of the stadium. It helped not to spread panic around, although all of us had a very odd feeling; something like strain mixed with a lack of understanding. The fans left the stadium before we did; I think we left Old Trafford at around five, with the feeling that everything was already under control. I feel sorry for all those people who had to go back home without watching the game, because that's what they had come for. Obviously, safety is always the top priority. But what I'm really sorry about is that this kind of issues affect football, sports and society in general. Many of us think that sport has the capability to unite people, and we must keep believing that. We will have to close the Premier League season on Tuesday. It's going to be a bittersweet farewell to Old Trafford, now that we know we won't be playing the Champions League next season. It leaves us with a bad taste because, even if we enjoyed good moments together throughout the season, we weren't consistent enough to qualify for the top European competition. It's true that we found many difficulties along the way, especially if we talk about injuries (up to 15 players in several weeks, as far as I remember), but Manchester United must be ambitious and always fight for everything. Personally, I feel privileged to have played every single game of the Premier League - actually I don't know if I have done something like this before. Nevertheless, football is a team sport and that's what really matters. Today, I feel sad because our supporters couldn't even have a normal last day of the Premier League, but we hope to grab a victory for them before the season expires. Luckily, we have won the chance to get a trophy for you and that's what we will try to do this coming Saturday. Winning the FA Cup would be wonderful, a great prize. I've been lucky to win a final at Wembley and I know what this competition means here and in the world. With more than 140 years of history, such an amount of teams participating every season (I've read there are over 700) and the final being played at Wembley, the FA Cup is something unique. We will need our best performance to beat Crystal Palace; they got here after eliminating four Premier League teams, and they are always a very competitive team with an elaborate style of play. Have a nice week. www.kicca.com/juanmata8/posts/5742b887aed1d9700a1a2e19You deserved it! #WeAreUnited Hi everyone, My first trophy with United, finally! It took quite a few years for the club to win the FA Cup again, that special and unique tournament, and last Saturday we made it... Being able to win this Cup for you, after your unconditional support throughout the entire season, makes me feel absolutely happy and proud. You deserved it, for sure. The road to the final wasn't easy at all. And the same can be said about the game against Crystal Palace: it was thrilling, like a big final is meant to be. For everyone familiar with English football, I'm not revealing any secret by saying that this competition is different, genuine, and so it is the final at Wembley, with its amazing atmosphere. We saw it just a couple of days ago. The FA Cup final is an unforgettable experience: the organisation, the pre-match show, the tension during the game... Luckily for me, I have been involved in two and both of them ended up with me lifting the trophy. I feel privileged for that. I have to say that 10 minutes before the end of the game things looked pretty different. After Puncheon's goal for Palace we didn't have much time to react. Luckily, Wayne made a great play, then came Felli's assist and I scored to take the game into the extra-time. Things got complicated again after Chris being sent off, but then it happened: Jesse scored a fantastic goal to get us the title and finish the season in the best possible way: celebrating with you one more title in this club's unbelievable history. It was a fantastic feeling: the season in the Premier League was not as good as we expected but, after going through some difficult moments, we never gave up and kept working to increase the club's record. I think we have to give value to the fact that it took 12 years for the club to win again the FA Cup. I take this opportunity to congratulate other Cup winners of the weekend: Bayern, Juventus, PSG, Braga, Barcelona... There were very exciting games all around Europe! As you can imagine, this is the blog's last entry of the season and I would like to thank you once again for your support, your commitment and your time to read these lines every Monday, wherever you are... I started this blog some years ago and it wouldn't make sense to write it if it wasn't for you. A million thanks for your support in this long and, at times, difficult season. I tried to pay you back with dedication and commitment to the team, always trying to give my best. I can highlight a few moments: for instance, I wore the armband of both Manchester United and Spain's national team, I played almost 60 games, more than 100 in total as a Red Devil (I was very lucky not to get injured), I enjoyed great moments like this first title with the club, I learnt from the bad moments, and I felt your affection. It's because of those things that I want to carry on and look forward to share more good moments with you. It's time for me to take a rest, switch off from football and recharge my batteries for the next season. I hope you have a great summer. Hugs to all! Juan

Its Hug time!!! juanmata8.com/en/blog/the-importance-of-starting-well/Hi everyone! Here I am again! A new season has kicked off in the Premier League and so has this blog that keeps all of us in touch, of course. Many of you have been asking me about the start of this new series of weekly posts and I want to thank you for that and, in general, for all your messages throughout the summer. My holidays have been long and productive; I have had time to make a few trips and to relax mind and body so as to be back full of energy. I’m retaking this blog tradition with joy because the season has started in a really good way. Eight days ago we won the Community Shield against Leicester at Wembley and this title makes us feel optimistic. From a personal point of view, I keep believing that Wembley is a special place. I had never won this trophy before, so now I can check it off my list 😉 Beyond this first trophy, it was important to have a positive start in the Premiership against Bournemouth, a team that had a good last season. We did it, and overall I think the whole team played a very complete game. I believe our victory was well deserved and, on top of that, I was lucky to score the first goal of the game, which is always an extra reason to be happy. It was my friend Ander Herrera’s birthday, and a victory was the best way to celebrate it. Anyway, we know this is just one game. As from now we are focused on the next one because it’s coming soon, on Friday, and against Southampton, a solid team with my friend Oriol Romeu in the squad. They were sixth last season and I’m sure they will try to finish this one in a better place. It’s going to be the first official game in Old Trafford this season so I don’t need to tell you how important it is for us to play a nice game, in return to the excitement we see in our fans now that a new football year is on. On a different subject, I try to get some time to watch the Olympic Games. I love them. Obviously, Bolt and Phelps are big sports legends, but the truth is, with so many different sports and outstanding athletes it is very difficult to highlight this or that discipline or competitor. All of them, regardless of whether they get a medal or not, deserve to be praised because they dedicate their lives to sports and have to work hard to be there. Sometimes they belong to disciplines that are not very well known for the general public, and they even have to make big economic sacrifices. Here my applause to all of them. What they do is simply admirable. Have a nice week. I’m pleased to read all your comments around here again. Hugs 😉

Our Juan was outstanding yesterday, an a big hug for Jose when subbed! Damn the club is deep, got 4 or 5 players could start for most every other club in the league that are wearing suit to watch the match. We'll see them in September and so with the other clubs. Anyone doubts the fear is back at Old Trafford will see the lads in the Stretford End eating the fooking seats as they watch goal after goal pouring in, an see the piss running down the defenders legs as another wave of monsters comes at them
HUGS JUAN YOU MIGHT BE SWEET, BUT YOU ARE A BEAST TOO!
