Going to Amsterdam to celebrate my 25th at the end of May. A couple of my best friends moved out there last December and this'll be the first I have seen of them since. Looking forward to it. You're only 25? Funnily enough mate I thought the same thing lol

Had a 2 day trip to Gothenburg (Sweden) back in 2008 but apart from that I've not had a proper holiday in nearly 11 years. Japan in 2003.
Been invited to a wedding in the south of France in August, which will be a 2-day thing and I would like to make a longer holiday of it but can't afford it. Not even sure if I can afford the wedding trip.

My wife's family have an apartment on the coast just east of Montpellier and south of Nimes. But since I married her, whenever I speak to people I don't know about the apartment I always refer to it as "my property in the south of France". By marrying into her family it's partly mine, right? Bestie, you're a lawyer. Can you confirm that I part-own property in France?

It's just kinda bad timing really; girlfriend left me a few weeks ago and I decided to move back down to Cambridgeshire after accepting a job down there. This all happens next week, so I've had to pay out a shit load of money for deposits, furniture, bills etc... and then I start the new job on the 4th August and then it's my birthday on the 13th, my sister's birthday on the 19th and then the wedding is on the 30th August. This is all coming from my final pay cheque from the job I've just left and then a chunk of money I've had to loan from my family. Next pay from the new job isn't until 29th August. I was looking at flights to Bordeaux-Merignac Airport from Stansted and it's cheap to get there but the date I want to go back is dead expensive. The guys whose wedding it is has said he can arrange lifts for me to and from the airport but there's also the issue of accommodation; most people are camping and I completely lack even a tent, let alone sleeping bag, bed roll, rucksack etc.. So I think I'll be skipping it!

I've even got a big rucksack for ya! Again never used.

Thanks very much for the offer, really good of you, but I think it's probably for the best that I skip the wedding. Money/gear/travel aside, I'd also only be less than a month into my new job and it's not holiday I've already declared when accepting the job. Cheers again though!

Yeah when you put it that way its for the best you give it a miss. Gutted for you sounds like a bit of an adventure. We're in the lake district for four days and I've got to say its been amazing. We did a small fell yesterday as it was so hot. Not sure about today maybe do blencathra.

Also just realised I don't have an up-to-date passport. Kind of a key thing for holidays, apparently.
