I thinks it's a shame what's happened here gents... yes it's a bullet dodged but at the same time it's another elite midfielder that will not play for United.
Let this thread rest in peace.
To the Strootman bunker!!!

Poor lad.
But well done Ed and Van Gaal. Another reason for doubters to not question your judgement.

Not too surprising, but hopefully for him its not serious. This is why I really dropped my expectations on Vidal when he was struggling to get into Juve pre-season. From my understanding his injury is a less severe but possibly persistent injury and rushing back for the WC would have done him no favours. No way could we have made him our (then) record signing, we'd have been shitting ourselves everytime he went into a challenge. Time will tell if Juve should have taken our supposed lowball offer.

massive MASSIVE bullet dodged here tbh. not 2 weeks into his league season and he's done his knee again. Imagine how frustrated we as fans would have been had we signed him, had him play the way he did in that first match of Juve's season, and then had this happen the very next week.
all of the momentum attained from the Di Maria and Falcao signings would have been stifled with this news.
Just another reason to say LVG and Ed got it right, again.

It just has the feeling of another Hargreaves - I think he was rushed back far too soon for the WC and may have done more severe damage by doing so...

Definitely a bullet dodged but I don't like seeing players like that badly injured. Potential career ended and if he does play again he won't be the same player. Shame for the player and football even if he isn't at united.

No smoke without fire? Or likely hatchet job?

No smoke without fire? Or likely hatchet job? Who's to really know until he shows up for a competitive match. Newspapers are worthless like a rubber beak on a woodpecker, can't look to them for accurate news.

I think the Vidal ship has sailed - makes more sense to pursue Strootman either in January or next summer - younger, a hell of a lot of potential and more likely to recover from a cruciate than a 28 year old with a persitstent knee problem If LVG wanted a PR machine with a dodgy haircut and loads of tatts he could have re-signed Becks just to make a few quid in shirt sales ... as long as the pouty bint doesn't come too

Agree Strootman will be an excellent buy if the knee heals correctly, common operation, and one that is much more often than not, successful. Besides, Strootman is flat out scarey when he is going after the ball, got a "look" to him that could curdle milk

So Vidal played 90 minutes yesterday for Chile. The media do write rubbish 90% of the time.
