Rumoured to be suicide. Really enjoyed his show Crazy Ones. with Sarah Michelle Gellar which was recently cancelled. He had some classic movies too.

I remeber watching some of his standup and him making jokes about him being on coke binges. I was like 'whaaaat'. There seems to be a correlation with being troubled and being a talented celebrity.

When I was in San Fransisco last year I met a guy that knew him when he was younger. He said he used to live on a houseboat in Sausilito. He used to busk at the piers by imitating people in front of their families.
I actually think he was better dramatic actor than comedian though. Dead Poets Society is a pretty unmanly film yet it seems to be preferred by men to women & I think that's because of how well he played the teacher. Brilliant actor.

I got whacked with this two-by-four news as I was picking a friend up for work this morning. Had heard a bit on the radio as I got up about 'someone' who had committed suicide but they didn't mention who and I moved on with getting up.
Horrible thing. Fairly shattering news. Dead Poets Society and Patch Adams are terrific examples of how Williams could be funny and serious in equal brilliance.

Pretty damn shocking. Overheard someone at work and thought they'd said Robbie Williams, which would be shocking enough (due to his age) but Robin is just as much of a shock.
Was never a fan of his comedy films to be honest, but as a serious actor he was very understated. He was excellent in Good Will Hunting, and genuinely creepy in One Hour Photo.
RIP.
