Yeah, I'm pretty sure the club doesn't pay tax in the UK anyway so another player doing so won't make too much of a difference.
Plus, he'll make Juan Mata feel tall.

Quite happy with the performance at the weekend, but I would be delighted with another CB. Blackett is lookin well, but as for everyone else I'd love a little more grit. Maybe him and Jones could be a hell of a combo if Jones wasn't a feckin sicknote!
I'm genuinely happy with everything else. Blind is exactly who we needed in Def Mid. He recycles the ball amazingly! Totally see why we went for him

Strootman in January if Di Maria or Blind gets hurt. Otherwise - I would not be surprised to see an empty January with Anderson and Fellaini moving out.

I'm not convinced with Strootman. He'd give us a bit more grit in the middle sure, but is his injury likely to be fully behind him, enough to be as dynamic as before?
I get the feeling if we do go for him it'll be start of next season if he proves fit enough this year. Obv in preparation of fighting on more fronts when we are back in Champs League.
Fletcher, Carrick, Blind, Herrera, Strootman. Gives us a lot of options.

Why do people think one knee injury ruins an entire player's career? Is it just the 'Hargreaves fear'?
People get injured. They come back. Some don't reach the same level, some do. Ruud completely ruptured his ACL in 2000 and then came to us a couple of years later and was probably the best outright finisher I personally have ever seen in our shirt.

Im only ever bothered when its box to box midfielders. They cover more ground than anyone on a pitch. Can you be as dynamic after such an injury?

Players in last year of their contract: Fletcher (30), Carrick (33), Ando (26), Cleverley (24), Amos (24). 4 CM's out of 5, all past it and/or simply not good enough. If you add Fellaini to that list of CM (yea right) players that will most likely leave, that will leave us only with Herrera, Blind and Angel Di Maria, two of which can arguably better be put to use on different positions on the pitch. Based on the above, I would say that we will most probably get a couple of new midfielders in January/Summer 2015, Strootman being one of those if he recovers well. Carrick and Fletcher will both be offered new contracts i'd say.. Carrick for me has still got sometihng to offer and Amos he's been on the bench a few times this season could also be in for extension. Fellani will go on loan for rest of reason and then sold for FFP reasons Dont think they'll be much movement to be fair and if we cant get a suitor for Anderson just let him run his contract down, cost us too much!

A lot depends on development of Blind. If he manages to seal a permanent spot and shows sign of being injury free, I dont think Strootman will be given a shout in January. Also, we have LB spot adequately covered, so there isnt any need to shift Blind to that spot either. I highly doubt we will be going for Strootman. After all the recruits this summer, the only area of priority would be an experienced CB in the mould of Hummels.

Hummels & CR7 next summer, tie up the deal Falcao at the same time & all will be right in the world.

Strootman and a RB in January. Ronaldo / Reus and a top CB in the summer (can't see a top one being available in January). If for whatever reason Strootman doesn't happen then Pogba instead.

I don't see Strootman coming in Jan unless a number of things happen. Obviously regaining his fitness needs to happen, either midfield we have now turns out rubbish, a significant injury and Roma become more inclined to sell. If Strootman came in, then surely it would only be at the expense of Blind or Herrara. That may not seem particularly necessary come January. We're playing a game a week pretty much, vastly less intense than we've had for years. The XI (or at least a core of 14/15 players) should be much more settled. None of this 51 different teams in 51 matches nonsense.
Summer next year is more likely for me, Strootman to replace Fletcher. A replacement for Tony V, possible some like a Cuadrado, a pacey, skillful and competent winger-wing back. That or a dedicated RB, depending on how our style settles. On the CB's, they need time. With Blackett coming through we have 5 of them to fight it out and hopefully the calamity of them playing the initial back 5 will be long forgotten in the coming months. Hopefully big money wont be needed on that area but we'll see.

Why bring in another starting CM? Unless someone gets hurt, no minutes for one of Blind, Herrera, Mata, Fletcher, Carrick, Di Maria, Anderson, Fellaini, and Cleverley. Not to mention any youth coming through. I can see a CB coming to replace Smalling. He has looked a bit off and it would appear that Blackett has his spot now.
