He'll obliterate it. Excellent. Now all we need is for one of our own to break his united one. In our current situation you could play for 50 years and not break that record. One can hope.

That's a lovely finish from Marcus. Confidence seems very high at the minute. Part and parcel with young players isn't it going though fazes like this, the amount of shit he gets sometimes is crazy. He’s an exceptional talent. We are beyond blessed we have him. Because there isn’t a hope in hell we’d stump up what it’d cost to buy him if he played for someone else.

RIP Martin Peters England legend and a lovely bloke. Met him once at a charity event, really personable and happy to share his stories.

Moving forward:
Pickford for now. Lets se how Henderson develops though.
Probably TAA if he sorts out his defence. Maguire Stones Shaw
Rice Grealish Foden
Sancho Kane Rashford
Let Rice be the one player sitting deep and give Grealish and Foden free range to roam around, get on the ball and makes things happen. Front 3 should pick itself.

After 2022 the older players (Walker, Henderson, Trippier) will retire from internationals, and then the change will really start to come. Unfortunately Southgate is here to stay until at least 2024. Also, as much as I love Rashford, he's had an appalling 2021 (pen aside, not his fault - compare the PSG pen to that and you can see it's bigger than just one man) and whilst Sterling has absolutely not done it in the PL, he's done it for England and will be very hard to dislodge.

Yeah and the other problem is Southgate will think his cautious approach has been vindicated by our run to the finals and dig his heels in so can't see him setting up much differently.
Also don't forget that just like Lampard he has a massive crush on Mount who for me is very average. Doesn't score. Doesn't create anything. Supposed to be good defensively and off the ball but did absolutely nothing to stop Italy's midfield completely dominating most of the game. But still somehow starts ahead of Grealish.
Agree Sterling will continue to be undroppable for Southgate. I think he is overrated and a bit too selfish but so long as he keeps scoring that combined with his senior status makes him a guaranteed starter. Sancho probably has the best chance of breaking into the team once he tears up the Premiership. Rashford will just continue struggling with injuries and burnout so long as Ole is in charge and I think he'll take that penalty miss the hardest and will probably get a lot of abuse for it so it will be a real test of the strength of his character whether he can bounce back. He just doesn't look like he is enjoying his football much at the moment.

Agree, the team is really what I would do, not what I think Southgate will do. Sterling is very average. Rashford dropped way off, for various reasons, the 2nd half of the season, but his natural ability, and ultimate ceiling, is far higher that Sterling's. Mount appears to be the Morata of England. We're going to just have to get used to watching him in the team for the next decade whilst constantly asking "What the fuck does he actually DO?" Foden did nothing in the Euro's, but I think he's a fabulous talent to be honest. He and Grealish should be in from the start for me, no question. Phillips, Henderson, and Mount keeping either of those out is a travesty. And no doubt it'll be Saka continuing to get the nod over Sancho, because "training".

Fucking Southgate went full ole in that game.
Should have made a few changes in the last 20 but just sat there and hoped for the best.
plus the amount of game time that mount gets is unread

Maguire celebrating with his hands to his ears like a goal against fucking Albania makes up for him being solely responsible for our last 14 goals against.
Aye, that’ll silence the critics.

Maguire booed by England supporters this evening while our top reds still cheer for him.
We have a fanbase with lower standards than fucking England.
