I will quote myself from the ineos thread back in February because I always thought this would be the best way forward.
option 1
75% of the stadium was built in the last 30 or so years (only recent history on those 3 stands)and while big it’s outdated.Any match going fan knows how cramped the seats are plus the general facilities all round need bringing into the modern era.
For me
it would be best to build a new 100,000 seater behind the current stretford end so we can still play at the old OT until construction is completed.
Once the new stadium is finished we can either.
1. Knock down all but the south stand(for the history/tunnel etc.)and build a 30,000 smaller stadium on the old site(reserves/women).
2. again knock down all but the south stand then covert that stand into a museum built around the old tunnel along with offices, bars, megastore, hotel etc.etc.(keep the shape but close off the front like arsenal did with Highbury).
With option 2 we could then convert the old pitch into a fan experience zone with huge screens on the new constructed south stand wall where the seats used to face.
just a few ideas to move forward but keep the history.

Architect Sir Norman Foster could lead design of new Old Trafford www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13727691/Sir-Norman-Foster-design-new-Old-Trafford-Man-United.html?ito=native_share_article-nativemenubuttonEXCLUSIVESir Norman Foster - the architect behind Wembley Stadium and the Reichstag - could design a new state-of-the-art Old Trafford as Man United chiefs prepare to make £2bn decision on future stadium 13:28, 09 Aug 2024, updated 15:00, 09 Aug 2024 By Mike Keegan Man United could entrust plans for a new stadium to architect Sir Norman Foster The renowned designer has previously worked on the new Wembley stadium Get breaking Premier League news straight to your phone on Mail Sport's new WhatsApp channel Sir Norman Foster, one of the most famous British architects in recent history, could be tasked with designing a new Old Trafford and transforming the surrounding area. Mail Sport understands that the multi-award winning 89-year-old, who oversaw the new Wembley and the renovation of Germany’s Reichstag, may be brought in to draw up a state-of-the-art, 100,000-capacity venue for Manchester United – or a remodelling of their existing home. It had been thought that Populous, who designed a host of major sporting landmarks across the globe - including Tottenham’s new home, and both Wembley and Qatar World Cup venue Lusail in collaboration with Foster – would get the job. They have already drawn up initial plans as part of a feasibility process launched by the Glazers in 2022. However, there was a fascinating development earlier this year when it emerged that Foster + Partners, in which Foster retains a controlling interest, had been commissioned to oversee the £50m revamp of United’s Carrington training complex. Manchester United chiefs are And with a major part of the dream scenario at Old Trafford a huge regeneration of the surrounding area, Foster’s outfit is in a strong position to be commissioned, according to those with knowledge of the situation. Foster is from nearby Reddish, was raised in Levenshulme – minutes from Old Trafford - and describes himself as a ‘proud Mancunian’. The 89-year-old is also a close friend of Ratcliffe’s. His expertise in connecting projects to surrounding areas and transforming urban areas could also be a deal sealer. United want any new stadium to be the anchor for a vast development, which links the venue with MediaCity, over the Manchester Ship Canal, and the Old Trafford cricket ground, on the other side of Sir Matt Busby Way. Industry insiders however, say one fly in the ointment may be the costs involved. They point out that Foster + Partners are one of the more pricier options and will not come cheap. Designers tend to charge a percentage of projected build costs, and fees can range from around 4 per cent to north of 10 per cent. With a rebuild expected to cost at least £2bn, that could prove costly. Foster has also previously led the design of the new Wembley stadium where England play their national games United are expected to make a decision on whether to rebuild or refurbish later this year. They are seeking funds from government, although any such backing is likely to go on infrastructure costs, including a new transport hub and roads, rather than on a new stadium itself. Foster worked as a clerk at Manchester town hall after leaving school. He went on to study architecture at the University of Manchester and worked as a bouncer, ice cream seller and crumpet baker to supplement his income. Aside from the Reichstag, he has designed countless landmarks over decades of work which also include London’s Gherkin and the space-age new home for Apple, in California, which opened in 2017. The opportunity to leave a legacy in his home city may well prove to be persuasive. Both Manchester United and Foster + Partners declined to comment. F&P designed a house I worked on for a famous online gambling company owner. Should be a very exciting project. Plus he grew up in Manchester.

CEO Omar Berrada's FULL message to Man Utd fans ahead of the new season which begins tomorrow:
“Dear fans,
“Welcome back to Old Trafford for our first Premier League match of the 2024/25 season. This is a particularly special occasion for me, as it marks my first game here as chief executive of this magnificent club.
“Your support at Wembley was fantastic, where we just came up short in the Community Shield. We were disappointed not to win the game, but can take a lot of positives from it.
“When I was invited to join Manchester United late last year, I didn’t hesitate. As a child growing up my first memory of the club was my father telling me stories of legendary players like Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best and many others.
“It is impossible not to be aware of the weight of history. From the tragedy of Munich to the triumph at Wembley 10 years later, I am honoured to be part of a place where overcoming the greatest adversities and rising again to the greatest glories is in our DNA
“That glorious history speaks for itself. When I walked through the doors for the first time last month, I was immediately struck by the enormity of the club and what it means to our fans here in Manchester and all over the world. I think it’s impossible to understand how big Manchester United really is until you’re on the inside. That’s one advantage all of you have had over me, but I’m catching up and I feel it more and more every day. It is a very easy place to fall in love with.
“We have had a busy summer so far, with transformation on and off the pitch. We welcome Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to the club; four excellent talents with a bright future here. We are delighted that club captain, Bruno Fernandes, has put pen to paper and committed his future to United and Erik ten Hag has extended his contract on the back of our FA Cup success. Dan Ashworth has joined as Sporting Director and Jason Wilcox as Technical Director. We are building a strong and talented football structure to work with Erik and ensure that we are focused on long-term success. We are also looking to build a world-leading non-football leadership team, which I know will help us to thrive.
“It is an enormous privilege to be taking my seat alongside all of you; I’ve been anticipating this for months. There is no better way to begin than right here, under the floodlights, with the incredible atmosphere that this stadium is famous for.
“I enjoyed spending time with our colleagues on the pre-season tour of the US, and I particularly enjoyed meeting so many of our American and travelling fans while we were there. We met with our new front-of-shirt partner Snapdragon at their home in San Diego and I was hugely impressed with how their market-leading technology will help us to perform.
“We are working hard to transform Carrington so that both our men’s and women’s teams have access to outstanding training facilities. You will be aware we have appointed a joint task force to explore options for the future regeneration of the Old Trafford area with a world-class stadium at the heart of it. It is the right time for us to be moving forward with both projects and our owners and the management team are completely committed to them.
“This is an eventful time for the club. Everything we do has to help us to perform on the pitch and that is our number one priority. It is so important, particularly in times of change, that our bond with you supporters is closer than ever. This will continue to be an important priority for us. All of you must be central to everything we do.
“I look forward to meeting many of you at Old Trafford and over the course of the season. This is your club. I promise that I will always remember that and treat it with the care, dedication and respect it deserves.”
