I am a new fan from the USA, with no connections to the UK other than through travel and distant relatives. I just began watching the EPL last season, and spent last year watching tons of games looking for a team to follow. The team that ended up picking me was Man Utd. I think a large part of that is getting to see them in person in Denver this summer, and partly because I feel like United earned its money and place rather than having a sheikh or oil oligarch buy it for them. (Not sure about the whole Glazer thing.) I know United is one of the teams that is typically chosen by non-English "bandwagon" fans, but given the managerial flux, the poor showing last season, and the poor start this season (at least for the first 5 games), I definitely don't feel like a glory hunter. However, to be fair, I imagine United will re-emerge as a contender for the League and Champions League spots, but without the dominance it had in years past. I guess that will make things more exciting, huh?

Wait a minute, you decided to follow us based on last season's performances? You sir, are the spiritual successor to those of us who started in the 70's and 80's. Welcome aboard.

Supporting United for the club's history? Not sure about the Glazers? Recognising United built ourselves rather than financially doping?
You'll fit right in my friend! Welcome to RoM!

Welcome Wouldn't worry about the whole "Glory Hunter" B.S. , there are muppets who would call a fan who was rocked in as Manchester United cradle, and swaddled in a United Blanket a "Glory Hunter". To hell with the bunch of them! Agree United headed back to CL and top of the PL, but disagree a bit about the dominance factor. Another transfer or 2, and the youngsters coming up keep working and I can see a return to dominance, and the top 4 or 5 PL sides giving the dippers 10 ass kickings per season for a while

DiegoRed--I am a Broncos fan, sorry! After years of watching them blow leads in games, they are now looking great. Except at the last super bowl, which was embarrassing. And against the Seahawks a few weeks ago. Dammit. @all--thanks for the warm welcome!

Should be interesting next Thursday. P.s. If the Bolts lose I will use the short week Thursday night game as an excuse because that is how I roll.

DiegoRed: I'm actually taking my oldest daughter to that game next week. It'll be her first. Really, really looking forward to it.
