So given that Jose doesn't fancy Memphis at this point in time should we get rid or send him on loan?
IMO he definitely needs to play and at a decent level to get back the confidence that I believe was shattered under LvG...
I think he has what it takes but he needs some good performances and some goals. My fear is that if we let him go then we could be recreating a de Bruyne situation...
I'd hate for a mistake like that to come back and bite us in the ass...

Imagine Jose selling Memphis to some German side for peanuts and within 2 years seeing him come back to the PL on a huge deal to torment our souls? When we bought him he was the best player in his league.. surely there's something there that is worth trying to salvage. For me he has to go on loan and be given a chance next season when our 2 strikers are Rashford and Martial.

If we sell Memphis after a season under van Gaal and no genuine chances under Mourinho I will be fucking furious. In part because Memphis certainly has ability in there, and in part because Fellaini is apparently still considered good enough but Memphis isn't.

For him to go from being the best player in his country to getting a move to a massive club with a Dutch legend as manager who then destroys his creativity and instinctiveness has got to take some recovery. He's a confidence player who has been devastated by LvG.

He's a confidence player who has been devastated by LvG. true but i wonder why the club doesn't remove them from their "support" network and wrap them up in a nurturing blanket. the sort of blanket that gets him some love but also is a little stern when he uses his new-found wealth to make him look absolutely daft and disinterested in the one thing that's making the wealth possible in the first place. now memphis is probably going to drive his bentley into the parking lot of a club whose vast majority of players drive toyota corollas. not really but you get my point.

Memphis' future here largely depends on where we see Martial developing - as a striker (which I actually think will be his best position) or as a left winger, because as talented as Memphis might be, Martial seems to be from a different planet.
Maybe we're training Memphis to play RW behind the scenes? Could work pretty well for us if we do and he does well..

juanveroni think once rooney and ibra are gone baby gone, that's when the true sense of where rashford/martial/memphis will play will be more clear. i think all besides memphis are being played out of position currently and its probably stunting their development. memphis has gotten tripped up in all the peripheral nonsense of a modern footballer. the tattoos, the cars, the clothes. to me whether he even remains at united is a question he should ponder carefully. i sympathize with his childhood troubles but an inability to pick up his socks and check that shit at the gate isn't what we're presently paying him for. getting up is up to him. if he had the drive to make himself the best in this league he may just get there, whether its as a RW or LW i think he could do it. the desire to do so is the biggest question mark right now. my honest opinion (and i'm thinking of ronaldo when i say this) doesn't matter what someone thinks of you... if you have the fire to prove people wrong you simply do it. memphis would rather hide out behind the wheel of his bentley.

Zlatan and Rooney are most likely due for a release this summer, but even then I doubt that with our club's current mindset we'd look within before opening the wallet and paying too much money for direct replacements for them.
Memphis is a strange one because he seems like a confident little brat, but well.. once he's on the pitch for us he has been anything but confident so I don't know how to address his personality or attitude.

i know some kids who walk with swagger. get them into a situation where they're supposed to perform and their slick talking doesn't count for shit. in some instances some of those guys hide deeper inadequacies behind a superficial swagger. and even they know it.
if LVG, and mourinho both can't figure a way of injecting something into memphis, maybe what people are saying about him behind the scenes about not having the steel are actually true? maybe he's a confidence player and maybe he isn't. maybe one destroyed the confidence and another can't rekindle it. personally i think his choices are either man the fuck up and buckle down... or... next! i have certain sympathies but let's be honest, we're a massive football club. not a daycare to fix mental boo boos of overpaid, overhyped children.

memphis may not have set the world on fire , but surely he deserves to get a proper run in atleast the europa league or league cup. i mean we are a team where likes of rooney , tree , rojo ,young are considered good enough.
This guy was rated by almost everyone when we bought him , surely there got to be something in there.

Depay has talent but does have the desire? he`s not showing it and the only person who can change that is him, he has to shape up or be shipped out.

Your'e saying it now but I wonder how you'll react if we do ship him out and he actually develops into the player many think he can become. Again, I have no idea what's going on with him or why neither LVG or Mourinho have given him a proper run - all I'm saying is that it would be foolish to sell him after one bad season without even giving him a chance to prove himself here. If he is asking for game time that we can't guarantee at the very moment then we should loan him out and hope he rediscovers his form and comes back here to be an awesome player for us.

ROM wants mass clear out. Doesn't want Memphis sold. If we're gonna sell players he's up there just behind Rooney and Fellaini.
