It's a shit decision. If he can't get in the squad now then I'd seriously worry about his long term future here. Could see him being sold next summer if he does go back out on loan. Don't see how next season will be any different.

I don't want to hate on Lingard but Pereira offers everything he does and then some. Travesty that he'll remain here as part of the squad while Pereira is loaned out again.

How many players out on loan eventually make it into our first team?

How many players out on loan eventually make it into our first team? Evans, Welbeck, Lingard, Foster (to a degree, he did get a chance), Cleverly. Not loads, but if they perform well enough and improve then they can be given an opportunity in the 1st team.

Well, Valencia are a decent team with a decent coach. Pereira will get good experience there and will most probably slot in the starting lineup. One can only hope next season he gets a fair crack at the team. Jose does believe in him though. Quite sure on that. Most likely he doesn't want to see him sit on the bench and would prefer he keeps playing and keeps growing.

Isn't his contract expiring at the end of this season?

He'll be 22 by the time this season has finished and in the last year of his contract. If we loan him out I could very well see him refusing any new contract we may offer him and signing with someone who offer him playing time.

He'll have plenty of clubs monitoring his situation, top clubs.

Loan move is the best thing for him. Needs regular games after last season and has shown he can do well in the Spanish league.
The club also have an option to extend his contract for a further year IIRC.

Even if it is the last year of his contract , I don't actually see the problem with him going on loan. Lets face it he's on the latter end of 21 and he hasn't really pulled up any trees. He was good at Granada, not overly excellent. He has potential but if he is 21 and hasn't caught the manager's eye and doesn't see him replacing the likes of Lingard, Carrick or even Fellaini, there's got to be something there behind it. I get he's a youth prospect and all but I can't get overly annoyed at him going out on loan. Everyone's got to prove themselves. Till date, Andreas hasn't, plain and simple. He's got to put in some really exceptional performances at Valencia and get himself chosen here next season. I don't think he will kick up a fuss over contract renewal, because I don't think he is that much of a cunt.

If he extends his stay before the loan then that will ease my concerns a little but not completely.
Said last season it would be hugely disappointing if he couldn't get in the squad this season and nothing has changed my mind. There will be plenty of games for him when the season gets into full gear.

Well that's that then. He looks as happy as I do about it.
