Lots of chatter about him yesterday. Saw this earlier:
"BBC reporter John Bennett, a close friend of Hoffenheim scout Lutz Pfannenstiel, has confirmed that Louis van Gaal made an enquiry about the 23-year-old Brazilian in April. Firmino, who is currently on international duty with the 2014 World Cup hosts ahead of the Copa America, will allegedly cost the Red Devils just £13.1million. The forward played and scored the only goal of the game during Brazil's 1-0 friendly victory over Honduras on Wednesday, and has impressed in his short international career so far. United have scouted him on multiple occasions over the past 12 months with their German spy Peter Braund snapped during one such mission sitting next to Firmino's agent at a Bundesliga match. The Red Devils also had a representative in place when Firmino scored a 25-yard screamer for Brazil in a friendly against Austria last November.'

The longer we wait, if indeed we're in for him, the higher the price - especially with The Copa having kicked off.
We need to tie this up asap if possible.

I think he's Brazil's No 9 going into the tournament. He could score a hatful and then boom!

sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/arsenal-midfielder-s-dad-says-situation-at-club-is-horribleSky Germany: €30m Firmino done, also said Gundogan to sign Man United contact Sky Sports Germany have tweeted over the past hour a little snippet which will both cause huge hype and confuse many. It's claimed that a fee has been agreed with Hoffenheim for the transfer of Firmino for €30m, however, there's no claim of which club that fee has been agreed with. Brilliant, right? This is the same Sky Germany who tweeted in April that an announcement would be made on an imminent Gundogan transfer to Manchester United, they even stated it would happen that following weekend. On Friday April 24th they said contracts would be signed at the weekend for the Gundogan deal, claiming 'BREAKING: Wechsel von Gündogan zu Man United ist fix. Vertrag wird am Wochenende unterschrieben. Nach #ssnhd Infos.' That tweet meant everything was fixed and contracts would be signed at the weekend, according to their own information. That didn't happen and Borussia Dortmund made a point of addressing the claim and calling it nonsense. Back then Sky Sports appeared to have taken a claim from Der Westen about Gundogan to Manchester United and exaggerated it hugely. It's impossible to know whether they've done the same this time. On one hand you may think once bitten twice shy and the other... this could just be something that they do. We've asked Firmino's agent for confirmation or denial on the whole story and are still awaiting a reply. If he's deep into negotiations on a transfer then that could be some time coming.

Mike Keegan @mikekeegan_DM Led to believe the reports claiming United have agreed a fee for Roberto Firmino are well wide of the mark. #mufc

Also I'm beginning to feel suspicious about players who are being linked to us after Alves. Think there's gamesmanship from agents/ media outlets going on here.

Keegan basically spends his whole time going 'despite reports, Utd not interested in xyz' The one thing you'll notice if you follow Keegan is that he never actually mentions a player we are supposed to be interested in.

Of course he has. Loads of times.
Then again, if I went on Twitter and said, 'United are not realitically interested in signing Thibaut Cortois.' then I'd be correct.

Any gobshite can tweet away poo-pooing any proposed transfer. It actually takes a bit of guts for a legit journo to say 'Utd are signing xxx' I always felt Ladyman got it in the neck as he was wrong about Wesley S. But afterwards it came out that the deal was practically signed, sealed and delivered and then fell through litereally at the last possible moment. Same with Nasri, that was done (glad it didn't now though) but then City came in and promised him the stars.

OK, maybe a better question would be, has he been wrong when he has said a transfer wasn't happening and it did...in other words, what's his track record like? i.e. is he at all credible or should we ignore him along with the 99% of bullshit we get on transfers?
