More and more places reporting we have won the chase and Arsenal have pulled out, £21 million fee being the most tossed about figure roughly €30 million. I'm only seeing people quoting the metro so far & mirror so far but I do think this will be wrapped up this week Telegraph, People and Daily Mail saying it now too. And L'Equipe. The word seems to be Tuesday or Wednesday for this one

The word seems to be Tuesday or Wednesday for this one I'm extremely excited about this because I'm hoping this will mean the attacking players will be given a bit of freedom. A 4231 with Carrick and Schneiderlin with Di Maria let loose will be massive for us

I think the idea would probably be to play 1 in a 433. Rotate the two but for once I'd want us to give the 4231 a try and just let Depay and Di Maria loose

Akin to the Carrick + all our CMs situations of recent years, it leaves a gap between midfield and attack as there's no one with enough dynamism to link up play when starting attacks from deeper positions. Massively frustrating.

Massively frustrating. It would be Di Maria in the middle for me, which creates selection headaches. Young and Depay on the wings and Rooney up front. You've hopefully got the control of the ball from Carrick and Morgan and have Di Maria in the free role. Herrera would also be excellent there. Think Mata takes some pace out. All hypothetical though.

This is why the pre season will be huge, to establish shape and formation. To be honest, it is just as difficult to speculate now as it was infuriatingly difficult last season. Will LvG be loyal or ruthless? If it is the latter, then either one of Fellaini, Mata and even Carrick's position could be in jeopardy. He is becoming quite injury prone and it reached the point where we were very reliant on him. Schneiderlin is the archetypal LvG player; the player he feels provides 'balance' to a side, with the right amount physicality and skill, like a Strootman. To this effect his signing will change the dynamic of the way we play and the only midfielder whose place is certain should be Herrera. I fear for Blind, but his utility value will save him.

I'd start Herrera and Schneiderlin as part of a midfield two and put Di Maria , Mata and Depay with Rooney up top. I think it would do well.
