Looking at the pictures of United training, it looks like Luke Shaw has lost some weight. He's looking quite lean. I'm expecting big things from him this season.

LvG said that he was pleased with the progress shown by Shaw and he meant that on the fitness side. If he stays fit, I bet he would get POTM in the year atleast once this season.

Apparently he's lost 3kg over the summer. Good on him.

Never any doubt about the boy's ability. If I had to put the house on one Utd player being the best in Europe in his position in a few years it would be Shaw

When I saw this new thread, feared the worst given how his debut season panned out But for his persistent injuries, would have run Herrera close for best buy of last year..

I was so mad about Shaw last season. His professionalism was a disgrace to be honest. A kid coming here in the shape he was actually laughable. He should have been keeping himself in good condition for the new season. You could see it affected him through out the side with injuries and not so good display. But its a new season for him now and lost a couple of pounds which to be honest he needed to get rid off. Expecting to see big things from him next season. i'll cut him some slack. he's what? 19? i think he definitely underestimated the step up in expectations and it was a disappointing season. i wouldn't put his injuries down to his physique exactly. i think he has a bit of the phil jones about him and can see him picking up a lot of knocks throughout his career that could easily be avoided. im sure a few people have had a quiet word in his ear and he's now lost a couple lbs and ready to go next season. a good pre-season is vital to his core fitness and injury prevention.

I feel good about our left side. With Shaw seemingly in shape and first name penciled in at LB, and Blind who can come in and do a job. We have Di Maria-Young on the wing, with Depay-Janu who both can play on the left side if needed. I certainly will be rooting for Shaw to show us what a young professional that wants to be in a top club, and playing at the highest levels, archives his goals and dreams...

SHAW REVEALS PLAN TO AVOID INJURY IN 2015/16
Luke Shaw has revealed he and Adnan Januzaj worked with one of the club’s fitness coaches over the summer, with a view to impressing throughout the 2015/16 season.
Shaw joined the Reds from Southampton last summer and the England international has been tipped to enjoy a long and successful career at Old Trafford, although his progress throughout his first campaign at United was unfortunately halted due to a series of niggling injuries. The defender is now determined to remain injury free during his second season at the club and, during an exclusive interview with ManUtd.com, the 20-year-old explained the steps he has taken to impress. “I have had a few different pre-seasons and this one hasn’t been too hard,” Shaw told us. “Every pre-season is hard and it is just about getting your fitness back up. Over the time I had off, I made sure that I came back in good shape. I am feeling good and I’m ready for the games. “As a team we all get individual programmes for the summer. On my time off, I went to Dubai with Adnan and one of the coaches. It was not a thing that I was told to do, it was just something that me and Adnan chose to do, to go out there and come back in shape for when we start the pre-season training. “Of course I had my time off, I had a few weeks to rest and recover so when we went to Dubai that was to bring our fitness levels back up. Me and Adnan really enjoyed it. Hopefully it was good for both of us.” On his hopes for the new season, Shaw explained: “I just hope I don’t get any injuries. I think last season was frustrating because I was picking up little niggles every time I had a couple of games. Hopefully this time I can stay fit, get a good run of games and win a title at the end of the season.” Asked if he has benefitted from not playing international football for England Under-21s this summer, Luke was concise in his answer. “Yeah, definitely. I have come back to this pre-season in much better shape than I did last season. The rest has done me really well, the trip to Dubai helped also and I feel good.” One of the most intriguing elements of this summer’s tour is the arrival of the club’s new signings, which includes French international Morgan Schneiderlin. Shaw knows the player very well from their time at Southampton and he is understandably pleased that Louis van Gaal has signed his close friend. “The new lads are settling in well,” he said. “Obviously with Morgan I know him really well from Southampton and it is nice to see him here. We are a good bunch of lads here and we welcome people really easily, so I hope they are enjoying it and looking forward to the games too. “Of course I spoke to him about the club beforehand, but every player knows what Manchester United is about. I made sure I told him everything about it and how much he would love it. I think he has made the right decision to come to Manchester United and I am sure he will prove everything right.” Judging by recent photos from training, Shaw has also struck up a firm friendship with new signing Memphis Depay, which the youngster is more than happy about. “He is around my age and it nice to have another player come in. You could say we have got on really well but it is just a team thing really. "With him playing on the left, it’s a good thing. He’s a tank! You can see in the pictures he has got a massive physique. He is small but stocky and strong, and quick, so he has been sharp in training. Like I said, he’s the same as me, I think he is just looking forward to just getting the games under way.” www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Jul/Luke-Shaw-reveals-fitness-work-before-Tour-2015.aspx

The work that both Luke and Adnan did was noted, both of them, especially Adnan showed greatly improved strength in that first tour match. Damn, love to see the young players realize that in order to be the best, they have to work harder than anyone3. Memphis came with a rep for being an absolute gym rat, love to see every one of the young players getting right into that kind of routine. That kind of attitude comes from the manager and his staff, just another thing showing United has made the right choice there, and that the manager is instilling a winning attitude in the kids

Interesting, so they had a pre-preseason. Hopefully it'll help keep those niggling injuries away. A consistent defensive lineup is just important as the quality of the personnel. He already very good for his age, hopefully this is him showing the attitude necessary to go on to be the very best.
