I'm not really sure how to feel about this whole situation, other than it's just so disappointing. We've all had such huge hopes for Luke Shaw and he looked so promising before the leg break. Since then everything has gone to shit and this is yet another occasion where Jose has laid into him publicly. I don't like players being these mentally weak, delicate flowers but the treatment of Shaw has seemed a little harsh at times. Perhaps Jose is frustrated that he knows there's bags of talent there but it isn't showing.
On the other hand Jose doesn't seem to grasp, or perhaps care about/agree with, the concept of different players having different personalities and different ways of reacting. Look at how differently players like Cantona and Ronaldo were treated by Ferguson compared to the way he would treat Keane or Gary Neville; he knew that some players just needed an arm around them, a bit more leniency and freedom... and others needed an iron fist. Both sets of players responded accordingly.
With Jose it seems to be an iron fist or nothing. Don't fit that requirement? Then you'll get the treatment Shaw has received, and earlier Martial and Mkhitaryan received (albeit to a lesser extent). Going back to Chelsea there's also David Luis, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and so forth.

He's on 70 grand a week. I wonder if earning that much money so early on in your life devalues the work and effort you need to put in to be actually worthy of that money. Either way , I'm a huge fan of his, but SET is on the money. He needs to get that thick brother of his out if his ear, same goes for his "mates". Shut the door and WORK. Mourinho isn't an idiot. He sees the potential, but potential without desire is as useful as a car without fuel. I was listening to a podcast about the NFL draft the other day. A couple of guys are great players but have red flags when it comes to character. A former GM said he'd never go near one of them. When pushed he said if a college player has work ethic issues or doesn't love the game, then the worst thing that can happen to them is to sign a multi-million dollar contract with a pro team. Hard to disagree with that.

When he was given the chance a few weeks ago, Shaw put in just as good of a shift as any other left-back we have (if not better). I rarely read about what players do on their spare time, but to me Shaw always seems like a good lad who tries hard every time he plays.
Again, in my opinion the bigger issue is how not just Shaw, but all of our young promising players have regressed this season - that's not a coincidence.

When 4 managers, well respected ones at that, maybe the problem isn't the managers, and more likely the kid being a brat. Which 4 managers out of interest? There was LVG which he won over pretty quickly and then Mourinho. He'still getting picked for England.

Thought he was held in the higest regard at Southampton. Also thought he would've played the Euro's if he was fit.

Pocchetino had to do a lot to get Shaw fighting fit most of the time it would seem. There's really no excuse here from Shaw. 4 managers . You cannot look at anybody except him. We have had far more talented players who didn't make it because of a shit attitude and far less talented players who won everything there was to win because they put in the hard work and graft. www.joe.co.uk/sport/jose-mourinho-just-latest-manager-question-luke-shaws-commitment-attitude-119898

He likes Pizza more than me and listens to more people for advice than he probably should

Pochettino loves Shaw, I'd be surprised if he'd moaned about his attitude or anything like that. Edit: just seen others say Poch did have to fight for Shaw's attitude but I'd like to see a quote, because I've heard several times before he loves the kid. If Rose leaves Spurs for someone like City I'd expect Shaw to go to Spurs.

Training is important and if he is making waves there, then Jose is not going to tolerate it for a minute. Fact it seems to have happened more than one time shows some restraint Mou is not always known for

Ultimately there's no smoke without fire. And definitely not when there's this much smoke. It's a shame and all that like. I reckon this is just Jose having a last go at getting something out of him. Surely anyone with a shred of self respect would be working twice as hard now.

jose has been quiet about shaw for a long time. mentioned him a couple of times, even said he thinks he could become one of the best. apparently nothing changed, so he went even further to see a reaction from him, as kojak mentioned above.
what i dont understand is the fact that some people/players just dont put in the effort or mentality. if the coaches would tell you, look you`re not gonna make it here, you`re probably a championship player then fair enough. but if you`ve been hearing for years from many different people that you have the potential to become the best, then why the fuck do you not change anything? if coaches would tell me i could become the best left back in world football, i`d put in all the effort needed to become exactly that. because that must be fucking awesome.
