It's actually a good way to spot people who actually watch football or not
People who don't think Smalling is still a clown
People who do realise he's been collosal for United and England

I was sceptical of his behaviour for a long time after the Bitters game and there were other lapses. His weakness was concentration and that has been resolved. His intuition is good but I still think Rio had the edge in being able to read a game. If 'Mike' keeps this form however, he will surpass Rio, and may even be compared with Bobby Moore.

To be fair, I never saw a CB in England that read the game as well as Rio.

Except in our kit though, yeah? === === === === === === === === === === === === === BY THE WAY ...To be fair, I never saw a CB in England that read the game as well as Rio. The red card against the Bitters was a watershed for Smalling, in my humble opinion. It made him realise that relying on speed is secondary to reading a game/positioning. Not dissimilar to Rio in that respect. He awareness has come on an incredible amount. In fact, this season, I cant recall seeing him scrambling to cover an area that he should already covered.
