England looked v good in that first half. Ireland look like they don't want to get injured. The amount of missed tackles was incredible.

Leigh Halfpenny out of world cup.. bug blow for wales.. i cant say i feel too sorry for them.. part of me kinda thinks gatland deserved this for treating warmups as full blown six nation international games.. fielding full strength teams in both games so close was completely daft

Gatland can fuck off.
Pointless friendly and he plays players that have confirmed places for the full game. Why make him play longer than a half?
Webb out as well, two massive blows.
Stupid fucking kiwi cunt.

Webb is a big big loss too! I just can't get my head around the decision.. I know they have some hard games coming up in the World Cup.. but fk me!! These matches should be about the starting 15 game minutes under their belt and replacements vying for positions!

Not the end of the world as we still have Hooky and Liam Williams but missing two vital players, really has pissed me off because they didn't need to play that long.
Christ we had players playing for less time that weren't even in the WC squad.
Gatland needs to pull his finger out. Drops the likes of Hibbard and Phillips but takes Priestland. Arguably one of the worst players we have playing for us.

Huge blow for Wales as Halfpenny ruled out of World Cup By Justin Palmer 13 hours agoBy Justin Palmer LONDON (Reuters) - Wales suffered a huge Rugby World Cup blow on Monday when fullback Leigh Halfpenny, whose superb goalkicking has been a key part of their success in recent years, was ruled out of the tournament with a knee injury. Halfpenny sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage in his country's final warm-up win over Italy on Saturday and will play no part in the Sept.18-Oct. 31 showpiece. "Leigh will undergo further examination and assessment before further details are announced," the Welsh Rugby Union said in a short statement. According to an unsourced report in French newspaper L'Equipe, the WRU have informed Halfpenny's club side Toulon that the player will be out for at least six months and will not be available until March. Wales, drawn in the toughest of the four groups alongside England and Australia, open their World Cup campaign against Uruguay in Cardiff on Sept. 20. Halfpenny, who has amassed 508 points in 62 tests for Wales and is renowned for his accuracy at goal, as well as being a fearless tackler and fine counter-attacker, pulled up holding his knee and was carried off late on against Italy in Cardiff. Part of the feared Wales backline that won back-to-back Six Nations titles in 2012 and 2013, the British and Irish Lion has suffered a number of injuries in recent seasons. He missed last summer's tour of South Africa after being ruled out for four months following a shoulder injury. The start of his Toulon career was delayed by a persistent groin problem and a nasty concussion sustained in March against Italy in the Six Nations prompted some to question his tackling approach. First-choice centre Jonathan Davies also suffered a knee ligament injury in March which ruled him out of the World Cup while Wales could also be without scrumhalf Rhys Webb who appeared to sustain a serious ankle injury against Italy. Webb, who has established himself as the first choice number nine for Wales after a string of influential performances, was carried off on a stretcher during the first half after his left leg became trapped at the back of a ruck. Wales have yet to provide a medical update on the player. Wales coach Warren Gatland must now shuffle his troops with Liam Williams likely to move from the wing to fullback to take Halfpenny's place, although the Scarlets man has fitness concerns of his own having not played since suffering a broken foot in June. Flyhalf Dan Biggar is set to take over the goalkicking duties. Stupid fucking kiwi cunt. I have to say I'm amazed by the games the 6 nations sides are playing as warm-ups. I tuned into Ire-Eng and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the line-ups. And then Murray went off with another concussion? Cannot understand it. I know there are less countries to choose from and money as always comes into it but the Welsh injuries were an accident waiting to happen. Play club sides, select teams, whatever. Who have NZ played in the build up? In the NFL, one of the few sports comparable when it comes to physical toll, you barely see the starters before the season opens. I know you can sub people in and out there but still. Crazy stuff.

His knee was heavily strapped before the game so the coaching staff need to be dragged over the coals for this one. Pointless stupid friendlies that have now made our job that not harder. Ok we have Mike Phillips and Eli Walker being called up and Liam Williams can do a job at full back but he's another coach that's losing the plot. First his disgusting treatment of Adam Jones then his ability to not see that Preistland is shite and should be dropped and now this shit with Webb and Halfpenny. Fucking clown.

Reckon Ireland have a pretty good shot.
Wales may have more BMT but this is it for Ireland really, especially being in the Northern hemisphere.

Rugby World Cup 2015: Wales can be 'silent assassins' - MarshallFormer New Zealand scrum-half Justin Marshall believes Wales will relish their underdog status at the World Cup.
The Welsh will be vying with England and Australia to top Pool A, which also includes Fiji and Uruguay.
Injuries to backs Leigh Halfpenny, Rhys Webb and Eli Walker have disrupted preparations but Marshall refuses to discount Warren Gatland's side.
"They've got an opportunity to be that silent assassin team because they've slightly been written off," he said.
Full-back Halfpenny and scrum-half Webb, both 26, are out of the tournament after suffering knee and foot injuries respectively in the warm-up win over Italy.
Winger Walker is also out with a hamstring problem.
"What a great opportunity for Warren Gatland and [captain] Sam Warburton to get together and go 'they've kind of written us off, let's sneak into Twickenham and ambush England and let's put the sword to Australia," former Ospreys scrum-half Marshall told Sport Wales.
"I'm very much watching with great interest as to Wales' performances in the pool stages as they could upset and they could qualify." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/34277205

Could be a blessing in disguise for us. Big blows yes but means we will have to be more attacking and not rely on Leigh to kick from distance. Not working ng us off but have to say Ireland look the more likely out of any of the northern hemisphere sides. As long as we beat the English next weekend I'll be happy
