Okay, so now he has a big contract, the number 9 shirt, and will very likely play a lot more as a central striker this season. No more excuses. Time to score 20+ goals.

At the Utd vs Ac Milan game last week, his name came up on the team list on the big screen in the stadium as: "Anthony Marhsall"
Think they'd tried to write 'Marshall', but even fucked that up.
wtf?

He's our most natural finisher. Much better than Rashford. I'll be glad if he's played through the middle over Rashford. Ideally, Rashford on the left, James on the right and Martial through the middle is the best forward lineup we've got. Must be said, he's got to work his bollocks off this year. Can't be lackadaisical anymore.

Plus with him being the main striker him not tracking back is less on an issue, at least with Rashford and James on the wings we know they will track back and chase lost balls. Plus he's the only player we currently have that has got close to anywhere near to 20+ in a season.

Ideally I'd like both Rashford and Martial up front in a diamond. There's only 1/2 players in the squad whose favoured position is out wide anyway. Get rid of the wingers and play to our strengths.
Waits for Redcase to say how much he hates that formation

Since New Years Day, 18 appearances. 2 goals, both coming in the 9-0 Southampton demolition of Southampton (the all important 5th and 8th strikes mind you). Exhilarating stuff.

He`s supposed to be a striker, what manager would keep picking a so called striker that cant score? Who thought he was worth £50M? ok he looked good at first when we first bought him even though never really consistent but now he`s just crap. I dont mind admitting I`d never heard of him when he first came but that might be because he wasn't that good in the first place.

I dont mind admitting I`d never heard of him when he first came but that might be because he wasn't that good in the first place. He's good. In fact, he's very good. Brilliant on his day. That's the thing. If he was just shite then whatever. All the blame is on the manager, the player isn't good enough to be here, shouldn't play and should be sold. Can't blame the player for staying around if he's getting picked for Man United and paid insane wages; especially if they know once they leave here they drop down or even out of the Premier League, who wouldn't? But he's not just shite. He's a very talented player who when on form would get into most teams in Europe. The fact that he's playing like this is beyond a joke. It's either a pure lack of interest, or his head has just gone completely and he has literally zero confidence. He needs binning off. He can either be back up to Rashford as our left sided attacker, or just sold and replaced. I'm done with him.

I’m sorry, but saying we shouldn’t have paid 50mil for Martial and later complaining that we never sign the real top talents before they go somewhere else is absurd. Martial was literally one of the most exciting talents in Europe when we bought him, and for a good while seemed like he was destined to be a world class player. Then his personality kicked in, and well, we know the rest.
I think the case with him currently is very simple - be open to selling him if a reasonable offer comes, and play someone else in the striker role until he rediscovers his scoring ability. If he comes good again, great.

This guy simply has no drive, no guts for the fight, doesn't stand up to be counted when it matters, how long do we continue to wait for him to come good, we've waited 6 years, he's never getting there, time for him to go and the manager should be actively telling him to look for another club it's as simple as that.

Martial’s been shite this season, but questioning the signing of him is madness.
There’s a combination of things with Martial. He’s not been managed the best really. He was having an exceptional season playing from the left a few years back and then we went and bought Sanchez and José flung Martial out on the right before binning him completely. His good performances in the first half of that season seemed to irk José who clearly didn’t fancy him from the word go.
He’s probably been a victim of poor recruitment too, in that he’s been our only option through the middle for long periods of time. He’s still been overplayed this season, but not having enough top level backup hasn’t helped.
The other thing is Martial himself. He gets in his own way. I’m not really one for moaning that he doesn’t run around loads and all that, because we’ve had brilliant forwards who never did anything like that. But there’s no denying he’s looked disinterested this season, even by his own laid back standards.
The thing is, if we sold him this summer, you wouldn’t bet against him going on to have a brilliant career somewhere else. And that’s a mark of the level of talent he has.
