Should have been Stones. Frees up Blind to play as a CDM where he belongs. And allows Rojo and Jones to finally be sold on. Blind as the CDM allows less reliance on Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin to be playmaking CM. Plus a Smalling-Stones partnership works. Smalling to enforce/defend and Stones to pass the ball up the field. Bad miss by Woodward. No no no no no, that'd make our tragically immobile midfield (when Carrick and Fellaini are paired for example) even more so. Blind can be a utility player.

Jan Hagen @portuball Jorge Mendes has confirmed to O Jogo that Man United made a €40m(€30m + bonuses) bid for Benfica's Renato Sanches. pic.twitter.com/HHQIMhiLkK
Man United were even willing to pay Benfica €40m + €20m in bonuses for Renato Sanches, but Benfica want €60m right away for the 18-year-old.
Utd were right to walk away from that.

Neymar would be a nice welcome present for Mourinho this summer.

Neymar would be a nice welcome present for Mourinho this summer. Didn't know he was going to Barcelona.

Given that Mourinho is looking more and more likely, I reckon either Andre Gomes or Rubén Neves will be one of his first signings.

In fairness to Lingard he would be more advanced if he hadn't spent almost a year out injured. Obviously not on the same level tho lol

Martial's fee may have set the bar in terms of figures for potential superstars. In Renato's case, however, there wasn't a queue of big clubs wanting him. Remember the Felipe Anderson chap? Was all the rage last season but can't make the first team this term.
I don't have a problem splashing big on youngsters provided it's based on long term scouting than flavor of the month types.

The figures mentioned as having been offered by Utd seem very generous to me. That they were refused is crazy imo.

And then I read Texeira gone to some Chinese club who had a 60m GBP offer rejected for fucking Oscar. Football gone mad suppose.

Seeing as how Pep is now confirmed city manager I've got a question that's been on my mind for a few days
How does united compete with city and pep for top players in the world if we don't have champions league football? They can't have them all but they will certainly get the ones that matter most..it would be hard enough with champions league football included.

If we don't do both, and even worse, give it to Giggs...this is what will happen when we try and sign the best players....
