Laporte this season has had a season comparable to Varane's last season. I.E: He's been pretty bobbins. Can't be any worse than Stones. Whilst Stones' passing and ability to play from the back has often earnt him praise this season, he's still very raw in other areas and has a huge amount to learn / improve upon. The price he'll end up going for will be ridiculous, but I do think he'll be our #1 CB target.

No. The standard of defending in the league this season has been nothing short of comical. If Hansen still did punditry, he'd have had a 5 heart attacks by now.

I'm only on the Stones bandwagon because I'd really like us to have an English/British core to the team. And he's the best of a piss-poor bunch. But yes, Laporte is better. And cheaper. But he's not been any better than Stones this season.

Laporte needs a new challenge. Overall game has stagnated a tad tbh.
Stones has missed 2 games and Everton have kept a clean sheet in both, just saying. These days it's easy to be classed as a good defender by being decent/good with ball at feet. From what I have seen of Stones since festive period, positional awareness is poor. Also, there is a fine line between being confident and cocky. Asking the crowd to calm down for pulling off an unnecessary skill in own box is definitely the latter.

I've seen Riedewald play for Ajax a couple of times this season. He looks like a great young talent and is only going to get better. Bazoer looks like a player as well.

Laporte would be an excellent buy. Probably better than Stones and certainly at least £20m cheaper... IIRC and FM is correct, his release clause is about £ 40 million.

Would take all except Barkley. He's thick.

Barkley is ultra overrated. Remember how Rodwell was supposed to be the 2nd coming? Somehow many Everton players tend to be hyped.

If he didn't play for Spurs I'd say Alderweired. He's very good.

Young Norwegian boy Samuelsen on the right for Peterborough looks very good against West Brom. Only 18, on loan from West Ham. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.
