VIDEO09/02/2016 13:04, Report by Adam Bostock. Video by Steve Bibby. VIDEO: WHEN WILSON SCORED FIVE FOR UNITED Will Keane isn't the only current Manchester United striker to have bagged five goals in a game for the club... James Wilson also managed it, at Under-18 level, back in 2012/13.
Wilson was just 16 when he grabbed his quintet – including four in the first half – as the Reds won 7-1 away to Newcastle United on 22 September 2012. Also in Paul McGuinness's Under-18 side that day were four players who were on the pitch with Keane for his five-goal haul at Under-21 level on Monday night – Josh Harrop, Paddy McNair, Andreas Pereira and James Weir. Watch our video above to see Wilson's five goals against Newcastle and further strikes in the same match by Kenji Gorre and Jack Rudge. www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Features/2016/Feb/video-james-wilson-scoring-five-goals-for-manchester-united-under-18s-v-newcastle-september-2012.aspx?HPL

James Wilson has revealed a chat with Jose Mourinho was key to sealing his loan move to Derby County. The Manchester United striker has agreed a season-long loan deal with the Championship club in a bid to bolster his first team experience. And Wilson sought the advice of his manager, together with United teammates from the past and present, before making his decision about which club to join. “I had a few meetings with Jose before heading out here and he said that he wants to see me playing games and scoring goals," Wilson told the Derby County club website. “He said that Derby was a good club. I also spoke to both Jesse [Lingard] and Michael [Keane] before coming here, and they said that I would be making a good decision to join the club. “I want to play games, I want to score goals, I want to gain more experience and my focus is entirely on Derby County at the moment.” Wilson struggled to make an impact on loan at Brighton last term and did not go on United's pre-season tour of China this summer. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford ahead of him in the queue at Old Trafford, and Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney also capable of leading the line, the 20-year-old has been keen to find the right club at which to continue his development. He added: “It’s been a few weeks now where I have been trying to sort out a move, so I’m delighted to get this over the line. “This is a good club, with a good set of lads and a good dressing room and great facilities. This was the right move for me for this stage of my career." www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-mourinho-james-wilson-11799663

Just hope it isn't ACL... For me an excellent striker but sadly I don't think he is going to get his chance with us...

I think he is avery decent striker and given a run of games could do well...but maybe not for us...got lots of pace too... This second compilation includes some goals from when he was younger...

I don't think he'll ever make it at United now, although I was already thinking that before he went on loan to Derby. Couldn't stop scoring for the reserves and showed some good flashes of quality for the first team but never really broke through and I think he's going to be another Will Keane sadly.
I think if he avoids further injuries after this, comes back strong and works hard he could develop into a solid lower or perhaps mid table PL striker.

It's a shame as I had high hopes for that lad but it never happened at United and I don't think ever will.

Have we ever produced a proper, out and out top quality centre forward?
Hughes is the only that comes to mind, but he improved more by going abroad, than he would've had he stayed here.
Rashford's only been playing 5 mins.

i'll be honest I have not seen much of him and when I did he never looked like scoring. is he really as good as people make out? I think he's a player, like many, where if he got a run in our team he could get to a certain level and contribute over a number of years. Kane is the most recent example of a first team striker who has broken through after less than explosive loan spells but there are plenty of late bloomer players to have played for Utd and elsewhere. It's about timing and a bit of luck. Pique is a great example of a young player who was certainly good enough but happened to have Ferdinand and Vidic ahead of him. Rashford may still be in the U-18s if Martial and then Keane don't get injured leaving us without a striker.
