I thought the bits I saw were really nice...I got to see a bit of the 'landscape'...it was a touch hilly in places...

Bought my first bottle and I went for the cheapest so I'm going to assume it's not good. It's called Ballantines? Anyone had it?

You should go all in and pony up for a decent single malt...I prefer Islay malts as I love the peatiness but some hate it...there is a huge range of flavours from different parts of the country...if you get an opportunity, try and go for a tasting...it is well worth it...only problem is the last time I did that I ended up paying £96...having said that it was bloody lovely!!!

I'm going to try a little bit but I doubt I'll like it. I bought it for cocktails but you never know. I'm loving this ale that's brewed in a whisky cask that's 8.5%. I'll come back later.

Our son loves his Jack Daniel's, if we ever buy him a whisky then it will be a JD, he keeps it beside him if I am around and I can't get near it.

Yeah, my son likes Jack too...has he tried Gentleman Jack and there's a single barrel Jack too...if you want to go silly, there's a Sinatra Jack that costs something over £100 a bottle... There are a few alternatives if he wants to try something a little different...Woodford Reserve is a nice one...it's worth experimenting... EDIT: Take a look at this...I wouldn't mind trying a few... coolmaterial.com/food-drink/the-bourbon-bucket-list-15-bourbons-you-need-to-try-at-least-once/

I love my whisky neat with maybe with a nob of ice now and then, it would last for ages!! nothing more relaxing sitting there at night time with a glass of whisky and just sipping away, that link made me thirsty looking at it lol, and knowing my son he has more than likely tried the brands you mentioned. The good thing at the moment is he is a manager in a Coop shop where he can get the drink on staff discount.

Jack Daniel's isn't whisky. Won't argue with that, still, love my Grouse.

What's the difference between scotch, whisky and bourbon? Is it just the malts?
