Ah Gabriel. Before regular internet access there was an imaginary muppet transfer suicide thread dedicated to him each summer..... Football was so much more romantic and mysterious before the internet. Players had better names too. Gabriel Batistuta Alessandro Del Piero Alan Smith.

SportWitness :
On Monday night, The Sun published an article saying Manchester United are close to agreeing a £30m move for Santos starlet Gabriel Barbosa.
They claim that by offering that, the Red Devils are leaving Leicester City behind in the race for the youngster and are now seen in pole position for the striker. The deal could be sealed in 48 hours.
To make it absolutely clear, this is what was claimed: ‘However SunSport can reveal Jose Mourinho is now in pole position to land the Samba superkid, with United set to push through a whopping £30million deal within the next 48 hours to outmuscle the reigning champions.’
There’s a few pieces of information which make this surprising deal very unlikely.
First, because Gabigol has made it very clear that he will only decide his destiny after the Olympics. His schedule for the next two days shows he has a semifinal to play, so it would really not be the moment for a transfer.
Second, because the Brazilian press have said nothing about it. The local papers were those which broke the news about Juventus, Chelsea, Inter and Leicester City’s interest, but haven’t said a word about Manchester United.
Third, because they say United agreed to pay Santos £26m and another £4m to his agent. It doesn’t matter how much Gabigol’s new club will pay, Santos will only get €18m due to the release clause.
The rest of the money is going to the player, with part of it being paid to the third-party company Doyen. Santos are definitely not getting that amount.
UOL has an article today saying Gabigol isn’t too excited about potentially joining Inter, since he called the Brazilian defender Miranda and found out the club aren’t living their best moment.
They claim that the auction stands as it was last week: Leicester (€27m), Inter (€25m) and Juventus (€20m).
Maybe the Sun are right, and Gabigol will become a Manchester United player before the weekend. But we aren’t jumping on this story so early.

Manchester United fans will have to be pretty happy with the club's summer transfer business. Eric Bailly won man of the match on his Premier League debut, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic has two goals in two games. And the best of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba is yet to come. They hardly need to add any more, but if a hot young Brazilian forward is available then it can't hurt, right? Well, not everyone's so sure. 19-year-old Gabriel Barbosa, or Gabigol to his friends, has been linked with a £30m move, and there's certainly some appetite for the Santos player. The teenager is currently representing his country at the Olympic Games, and scored twice in the 4-0 group stage victory over Denmark. Throw in his one-in-three record at club level and you can see why people are excited. But not everyone is thrilled. In fact, it wouldn't be a football rumour on the internet if we didn't have naysayers finding a problem with their club bringing in one of the world's most in-demand young talents. As you might have guessed, it all comes back to Jose Mourinho's reputation with youngsters. Some fear the arrival of Gabigol would see another young star, Marcus Rashford, sidelined. Mourinho has already suggested Rashford is a big part of his plans, along with Memphis. Is there room for another talented young forward at the club? Well, there might be one way to accommodate the Brazilian... That would be trouble for rashford.

www.football365.com/news/gossip-chelsea-rival-man-united-for-fabinhoABSOLUTELY FAB As clubs continue to scramble to sign a new defender before the end of the transfer window, Chelsea have decided to enter the race to sign AS Monaco right-back Fabinho. According to L’Equipe, the Blues will go head to head with Manchester United to sign the Brazilian and are prepared to make a £25million bid. Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho are both understood to be keen on landing a new defender, although the United boss has suggested his transfer business may be done for the summer. However, neither club can offer Fabinho Champions League football, which could prove a stumbling block. Although they can offer the 22-year-old bags of money. YOU CANNOT BE REAL? Chelsea continue to be forever linked with James Rodriguez and have reportedly failed in an attempt to sign the attacking midfielder on loan. Rodriguez is out of favour at the Bernabeu and is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League. The Blues have been linked with the Colombia international on a number of occasions but Florentino Perez would rather understandably prefer to sell the Rodriguez for £60million rather than allow the 25-year-old to leave on loan. The Daily Mirror suggest Chelsea will continue to pursue a deal for Rodriguez before the end of the transfer window but will face competition from Juventus. ROJO NO GO Marcos Rojo has been told he is “categorically not for sale” after Manchester United rejected two bid for the defender. Argentina international Rojo was understood to be one of the players that would be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer, but Jose Mourinho insists the 26-year-old remains part of his first-team plans, according to Yahoo Sport. Former club Sporting Lisbon and French outfit AS Monaco are reportedly interested in Rojo, who is now second-choice left-back and well down the pecking order for a centre-back spot. But with the Red Devils competing in four competitions, including the Europa League, this term Mourinho is keen to keep hold of the former Spartak Moscow man. AND THE REST Manchester United could make a £1million bid for 19-year-old Sheffield United forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin… Former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan is set to join Reading on loan… West Brom have agreed fees for Nacer Chadli and Ignacio Camacho… Juventus have ended their pursuit of PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi… Crystal Palace are close to signing Loic Remy on loan from Chelsea and also want to land Everton midfielder James McCarthy… Lazar Markovic could leave Liverpool on loan again with AC Milan interested in the winger… Sunderland face competition from Valencia to sign Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra.

It's from the Sun Sport by the looks of that, so about as reliable as a pensioner's bladder after a few pints.
Still, it wouldn't surprise me. He's barely been given a shot by Mourinho, it really is criminal how much the guy is overlooked. I hope he is given a fair chance in the squad, and if he's underwhelming then by all means sell him.

Watch him be fucking brilliant for Everton now. After we sell him to them for 5.3 million. And keep Fellani.

Fucking baffling if true. I was sure Schneiderlin was going to be to Jose's liking, thought he'd become our Matic.

If Morgan is leaving (and I wouldn't doubt it), he better take Fellaini with him and we better have one hell of a new holding midfielder coming in.

Fucking baffling if true. I was sure Schneiderlin was going to be to Jose's liking, thought he'd become our Matic. Definitely this. Just like I thought Van Gaal would fuck off Rooney and Fellaini, I thought Jose would love Morgan and appreciate him properly.

please no, not suarez, i know he's good world class, and the most complete player of the MSN attack force, arguably deserves to win the Ballon d'Or
but i couldn't deal with that cannibal being at our club. fixed it a bit TBH feel pretty much as you do about the cannibal, but damn he is seriously world class, hell, he carried the dippers when he was there superb player
