You cannot tell me that we want to retain every single senior player we've currently got in our squad currently so it's been a pretty shite job from Ed in that regard. Going to be a number of players who get very little, if any game time. If they don't want to go, there's very little he can do about it. Keeping players in the squad has nothing to do with Ed anyway. Bastian can go on a free but won't, we subsidised Nani's wages for a year and so on, sold cheaply every player we've sold since he was in charge of all that shit. Ed is shit at a lot of things, excellent at some others, but this is nothing to do with him, Jose wants his 23+ keepers, he's got them, Bastian is the only senior player not in it. It has everything to do with him as he was the one who decided to give them a fuck load of cash each week.

Please explain to me who did then? The manager at the time. Ed may sign it off, but if x asks for 150K a week and the manager says no, Ed don't give it to them anyway

This David Luiz back to Chelsea is an odd one, especially for £32m quoted given that he's 29. I always quite liked him in a way, always made the headlines, though you could never guess whether it'd be for good or bad defending. Danny Higgs suggested it could be part of a plan for Conte to move to his preferred 3-5-1. Luiz can play the ball from defence, but who plays RWB? Danny Higgs suggested it could be part of a plan for Conte to move to his preferred 3-5-1. Luiz can play the ball from defence, but who plays RWB? Given Lichtsteiner often played there for Juve you'd think it'd be Azpilicueta and then Alonso on the left? Problem is with 3-5-1, where do Willian and Hazard fit? May revert back to the 4-2-4 he tried in preseason? Conte likes to play with ten men eh? Could help us when they come to OT I suppose...

Yeah a permanent deal for Weir makes more sense. Don't see a long term future for him here. Again like the other kids that have left, I wish him the best for the future. Hopefully he can forge a decent career for himself and be another player to come off the conveyor belt that is our academy.

Please explain to me who did then? As I don't consider Ed as a genius in football matters I'd say he's an extremity of what any given manager wants in order to satisfy his end of the supportive bargain. I'd say Van Gaal is the one to blame, he obviously thought Schweinsteiger would be worth it, so much so that he'd leave Bayern. Ed's contract was a means to an end.

If VG made it clear to Ed that he REALLY wanted Bastian, then i doubt Ed would have said no to much during the negotiations anyway. Same as Jose giving Mendes his list of transfers & him and Ed made it happen.

Both could have decent Premier League careers

Both correct, but aside from targets like Pogba, any decent manager would say don't go above x amount for x player, or move onto target y. Fuck this anyway, This window has been mint, and if you (alt) are disappointed in our squad, then I've nothing else to add anyway, because you're clearly nuts.
