Ronaldinho wants that drug money clearly, he wants another 100k on top of his already 100k offer, for ONE GAME.
200k is how much current Ronaldinho is worth for a season, not just one game, i would understand if he took the 100k, or even asked for more (obviously not too much more) but to ask for that much is ridiculous

in the olympics so far for the matilda's, not good at all (better than the olyroos who didn't even make it, thats just a disgrace, thankfully Vidmar promptly got the sack for that as he should have years ago).
Canada 2-0 Australia
not good enough, just a poor performance overall really. Not what you expect from the #5 team in the world, it was rather poor, movement of the ball was rubbish and just generally poor in general. Fitness is a big issue as well which comes down to the coaching staff, no way we should be going in unfit.
Germany 2-2 Australia
We messed this up so much, wasteful in front of goals, it would have been a bit of an upset but we really should have won this with the chances we had in front of goal.
provided we beat Zimbabwe we should get through in theory (2 best third place finishes go through), still though rather poor since we should have gone in at least in 2nd. Absolutely not up to standard for the Matildas and honestly questions need to be raised as to the coaching staff and also the desire of some of the players (especially the multi coders and those thinking of going to the AFL comp) if you're thinking of going and playing for another code don't even bother playing for the national team to be honest. Yes pay needs to improve BUT willing to abandon the sport at the drop of a hat is just a lack of passion. Should only select those who want to be there.

Tony Walsmley has been sacked by the Central Coast Mariners early this afternoon after a dissapointing 2-0 loss to NPL side Green Gully. The mariners came in last after last season and conceeded the most goals in a-league history.
The most likely candidates to replace Walmsley include club legend John Hutchinson, former a-league winning manager Mike Mulvey, current Sydney United manager Mark Rudan, former Indian U23 manager and current Green Gully manager Aurthur Papas.
A bit of a poisoned chalice unless they get the spending from Mike Charlseworth though, its a state league quality side really. I do feel for Walmsley as he had no resources to go about the job and had to get rid of all these good players, and had 2nd rate players coming in as replacements, really a recipe for disaster.
Golden boot winner Bruno Fornaroli has been signed to a new 3 year deal with Melbourne City which will see him become their new marquee player and it is expected Tim Cahill will come in very soon as a guest player on a multi million, multi year contract (similar money to Del Piero, around 3.5 million a year).
Newcastle have signed finnish striker Aleksander Kokko to a 2 year deal. The 29 year old last played for RoPS in the Veikkausliiga (Finland top flight) and is a two time golden boot winner in the competition (2008 and last season) as well as a three time runner up in the competition. Scott Miller is really using his connections in the nordic countries to secure signings.
Also in olympic matches this morning
Brazil 0-0 Iraq
Iraq did incredibly well to hold on but the story will be Brazil's wastefulness in front of goal, Neymar is just a horrible captain as well, no leadership qualities really about him, as great as a player as he is.

The Wellington Phoenix have signed former Serie A defender Marco Rossi to a 2 year deal. Good signing filling in an area of real need, they needed a good experienced CB and they've gone and gotten just that, maybe another CB and a proper target man striker that is different to Roy Krishna and they will be set
Sydney FC have also confirmed Bobo as their 2nd marquee player

Season FINALLY starts this weekend, Game 1 is Friday Night when Brisbane Roar plays Melbourne Victory (i really hope we beat the tards badly) where new star signings for both sides come out (for Brisbane, Brett Holman is back in Australia, for the Victory, they've brought back old boys James Troisi and former Johnny Warren medal winner Marco Rojas).
Then the weekend is the big one, The Sydney Derby at ANZ stadium where it is expected more than 60,000 people will watch the Western Sydney Wanderers take on Sydney FC. Sydney come in after a horror season and have made huge changes, signing marquee striker Bobo as well as CB Alex Wilkinson and LB Micheal Zullo.
Aside from these games, main talk has been Pro/Rel and expansion as well as the TV rights deal
for Pro/Rel, we got a visit from FIFA of all people telling us to do something about it and basically everyone (including the fans) agree, except the FFA who seemingly want the league to be as boring and stale as possible.
Also expansion has been something fans have been screaming for something to happen. Gallop has come out and said 10 teams is not enough (no shit, we're actually down on teams from 2011 btw where we had 11) but nothing is being done, honestly we should consider going up to 14 in one go, but at least up to 12 (also reported in the courier mail that gallop wants a 2nd side out of SEQ, which may help the strikers, brisbane city or gold coast city, i'd go with either an ipswich side or Logan side since both have high migrant populations as well as distinct enough from Brisbane to forge an identity and a rivalry, only issue is the need for a stadium)and gallop wants a 12th side in before a second division is set up and inevitably, before pro/rel. I'm ok with that though, rather have a proper 2nd division up and running first.
Teams aren't happy either, they want to go seperate and run the league by themselves or have an independant body run the league (Only if Peter Filopousos or someone like him is in charge), i don't trust the a-league owners/CEO's either, all of them are dodgy as hell (Barkries, Pignata,Sage, WelNix, Griffin, Charlesworth etc) the only okish owners are the Victory, Wanderers and the New Newcastle owners (though they're in a PR disaster right now since they sacked Scott Miller who was actually really liked and hired some nobody).

For TV rights.
Whole lot of talk, deal will most likely be done before the end of the year and they want 80 mill a year and want a big 3 free to air network to pick up the deal (7,9,10), so far though only 7 has offered and it is substantially less.
I think if the Big Bash League (20/20 cricket, as most of the poms would know at least) goes to 9 as i think it will, then 10 most likely goes with the a-league, which would be best case scenario for football (crap for the cricket though, 10's coverage of the big bash is so much better than 9's coverage of...... well anything).

Brisbane Roar 1-1 Melbourne Victory
scrappy game in truth but both teams are quality sides who should both be in the top 4 come the end of the season (then again the only teams that don't have a hope this season for the title are Newcastle and Central Coast who will probably not get more than 15 points). Roar had some shocking moments, that goal...... Thats on Aloisi for choosing Theo in truth. Shaun Evans is a spud of a ref, bad calls all around. both cards on McKay are suspect (in fact first isn't even a foul and glad Aloisi got stuck into him post match, if Bes was still with us ref would have been pushed down for that), McKay probably getting suspended though for giving him the finger (pretty retarded but meh he deserved it, hopefully we don't select Jacob Pepper and just play Broich and Holman and hope Kristensen holds up). for the Victory too he was giving away the chedder like its christmas, who trains these idiots. Vuck looked reasonable too, at least solid defensively and when we went down to ten they didn't let us in like most teams, they actually shut us down well. That last minute goal though from Devere, oh you live for moments like those in football (yes even with only 15k there in a 50k stadium). JMac should have scored some of those, if he can start slotting it in he's getting the golden boot.
LOL at both Aloisi and Muscat saying their team dominated haha. I don't think neither can claim that at all (i'd say advantage to the victory if anything but not by that much either)
Crowd: 15,805 (in reality that is wank for an opening round, under normal circumstances it would be 20k but given this is the 3rd offseason in turmoil due to our corrupt indonesian overlords where we didn't know if the club would be here next season, not to mention the cobb saga (should be in jail though tbh) yeah not too bad. Plus they haven't even sent out all memberships, the fans are pissed. If only the Den were somewhat competent enough to organise a sydney fc style walkout, yes it would hurt the team, would also make the FFA look horrible for not intervening like they should have).

Also we finally have an answer on expansion and when its going to happen (well what they want, so again they've given themselves leeway)
they want to do it within 2-3 years. Honestly a year more than my liking but i understand why, hopefully it is only 2 years though. I mean to plan a club like Western Sydney it took 2 years so to do two teams i'm guessing will take a bit more work.
My guess is they're looking at Brisbane and possibly Wollongong or Sutherland as well as Canberra, well 2 out of the 3, maybe Perth is an outside chance. After that my guess is 2nd division gets a moving.

Wellington Phoenix 0-1 Melbourne City
Owned by Emerati's, play like Emerati's. The tactics were horrid to be honest and that will not fly here. Neither exactly filled me with confidence but hardly think this game is indicative of what both could bring potentially this year.
Crowd: 10,034 (not that bad for the Phoenix but they need to retain 90% of that figure for it to be respectable this season or they'll lose all sympathy)
Sydney FC 4-0 Western Sydney Wanderers
Going to steal a harperism. It was a demolition derby. First half was even but second half was a hiding, Wanderers looked as bad as the Mariners there, if they're playing like that i think its between them and Newcastle for 8th or 9th and Popa is getting the sack this season. Absolutely shocking, Bulut looks like he's gone backwards, Cornthwaite is still Cornflakes and most of their imports aside from Junpei (who looks like an absolute gun) were rubbish. Sydney FC however looked amazing, Arnold got them playing probably the best football i've seen this weekend, they should be a top 3 squad, they're easily the most complete squad so far (so unless Perth put 6 past central coast i doubt they'll be better). This was the Wanderers worst loss ever. Absolute scenes i tell you, #scenes (hopefully the RBB don't decide to take their frustrations out and cause something on opening weekend).
Fun fact, 3 games so far, 3 red cards. In fairness the ref was good this game and the red deserved it, clearly a professional foul just outside the box and prevented a sure goal.
Crowd: 61 880 (largest crowd for a regular season game ever in any football code, largest a-league crowd ever (by a good 8k too) and higher crowd than the AFL got for its all Sydney derby in the finals, this was a huge crowd).

From Last night:
Adelaide United 1-2 Western Sydney Wanderers
Neither team played that well i thought but Adelaide looked slightly better. Debutant Henrique scored the opener for the reds (i will never stop being salty about this, bloody barkries, Cobb the bald wanker and the FFA for not revoking their hold on the license). Refereeing in this game was the drizzling shits though, Shaun Evans should be promptly sacked, the Santalab challenge (flying one footed tackle that took the player out mid air, at the knees no less) only got a yellow for some reason, then he grabs the winner. Second week in a row this dickhead managed to fuck up so badly it affected the game, it wasn't just this challenge, the Wanderers were getting away with niggly shit and fouls where being called against Adelaide for no reason. Amor didn't want to speak about it but it was a disgrace and ruined a relatively even game that sould have finished 1-1.
Crowd: 14,789 (great figure at Adelaide tonight for the grand final rematch, i think they should mantain a good figure this season to be honest, the people have really gotten behind the team).
There are two games today, first being Sydney FC v Central Coast Mariners. Sydney FC are coming off a 4-0 demolition of cross town rivals Western Sydney and Central Coast are themselves coming off of a 3 goal comeback to draw 3-3 at Perth.
And then in the big one, The Melbourne Derby tonight which will see Cahills debut (and the cringeworthy Cahill Cam, ffs), City are coming off of a pretty unconvincing win over Wellington at Wellington (who were missing 5 starters who were on international duty). Melbourne are coming off a pretty good 1-1 draw against Brisbane in which honestly, they should have won (only a last minute equalizer meant they had to share the spoils).
and tomorrow Brisbane travel to Newcastle in what is usually a bit of a bogey game for the Roar, but recent instability at the Hunter probably would have the roar as slight favorites for the 3pts (it will be great though).

Sydney FC 4-0 Central coast Mariners
Sydney where just on another level today, Necevski is a bad keeper but central coast are just inexperienced and there was nothing they could really do unfortuantly. Okon has got the mariners to have a good posession game at least so the blocks are their, he will be great for the youth coming through the club. For Sydney, Bobo so far has been amazing and as a result Holosko has been also, the missing pieces are there, i think them and city are going to be scary (well they are now at least). Mariners, if they could get a good back line they would be fine, 2 good CB's and a LB and i think they would be considerably better, Faty has been abysmal this season thus far.
Crowd: 15 082 (thats actually pretty bad, Sydney are usually 2nd in terms of crowds but only 15k, i know their were no mariners fans travelling but they should have gotten more like 17-18k)
Melbourne City 4-1 Melbourne Victory
What a debut for Cahill, scored an absolute screamer from about 40 meters out into the top corner, already a contender for goal of the season. City looked great, Brattan also played a key part (i'm not bitter......). Now this is the way City should have played last week, as for the Victory, 1pt out of 2 games thus far is not good and their defense looks shakey and in general whilst their attack is great, the Delpierre loss is huge. Donachie, Geria and Georgevski had terrible games. For the first time in a while, Melbourne is red and sky blue.
Crowd: 43 188 (again, actually not the greatest crowd all things considered, this was the Melbourne Derby at the Ethiad and Tim Cahill's first game, should have been closer to 46k or even higher, it isn't a full house thats for sure)

Newcastle Jets 4-0 Brisbane Roar
In one of the worst games of foobtall i've seen, the jets pulled it off. The roar are fucking useless, as a fan honestly, what is even the point, like the club has had 3 horrible offseasons where we didn't know if the club would fold, fans still haven't gotten memberships, no communication other than management blowing off their own fanbase. The only saving grace was the on field ability, now this backroom bullshit is effecting us on the field as we have to buy second rate hacks like Jacob Pepper and we can't replace players we are losing and are forced to play fucking shit players like Jade North and Corey Brown, fuck sake. Aloisi better give them the hairdryer, luckily we're not at home next week otherwise there would be no one at the game (nor should their be)though to be fair, at this stage we'd find a way to lose to central coast by 3 goals also, we're that shit . if the FFA had any bloody balls they would have taken the license off of our shitty indonesia overlords who are so broke themselves (nothing ever good came from indonesia from a football administration aspect, they are easily the worst in the world at that). Jets at least looked like they could score, but the roar looked that horrible i'm not entirely convinced that you can judge the performance on this alone, Clut is a gun though and i maintain this, we never should have let him go (almost sackable by Aloisi to let go of our best young player for free).
Honestly bring on the strikers, fuck even protecting the waste of space that is the roar at this stage, no excuses then, if the roar fold (as sad as it would be) the roar fold, no more excuses anymore. Also if we play like this i cannot see our averages cracking 11k.
as For Aloisi, may be harsh since we barely missed out on the premiership, but if we miss out on the finals he needs to go
Crowd: 8335 (pretty bad but i think they've lost their paitience, Newcastle are the most loyal fanbase but after firing Miller and then buying some chinese player who hasn't played in 2 years, plus the fact its sunday, yeah the crowd wouldn't be great).

Melbourne City 2-3 Perth Glory
Andy Keogh take a bow. A hattrick by the Irish striker, including a lovely lob to win them the match in the 84th minute, is the major difference as City lose their first game of the season. City came from behind twice but the last goal, well it was an absolute mess at the back. JVS will have to sort that out if they are to avoid a repeat of last season (highest scoring squad by far but one of the worst defenses also). As for Perth, a lot of character because a lot of the 50-50's went against them, though they are perth so not everything was undeserved either. Kenny Lowe got sent to the stands for his troubles also at half time (He has to be italian with his movements and gestures). I think Perth are going to be a real dangerous team if they remain healthy, especially against posession based teams like City, Victory or Adelaide.
Crowd: 8076 (how are they getting worse figures than the mariners or phoenix, they have over 11,000 members now, and after playing some stunning football over the first two rounds this is the best they could get, abysmal, absolutely abysmal for the first non-derby home match, this will be the huge issue going forward, i mean they have the best squad ever assembled in Australian football history (on paper) yet this is the result, plus their marketing has been very good actually, and they've had so much FFA backing, if this is the final result you may as well fold the club and give South Melbourne the license).

On expansion news, Miron Blieberg has stated he and a consortium are going to try bring a 2nd team to Qld, or more specifically, Brisbane.
And even Aloisi agreed it would be good. However if its Brisbane, i'd say it would have to be the strikers given that it is a very well known commodity in the city due to the NSL (well at least amongst football people and people who can remember the old NSL) .
Also it means the Roar have to clean up their act as recently they've been a circus, because if they don't, they're going to be in trouble. In Brisbane if the other team is seen as more competent people will jump on that. However a big point would be the fact that a 2nd team would need a seperate ground aside from Suncorp (i.e. Perry Park) and there would need to be redevelopment to make it a 20k capacity stadium, i think they could get some seats from QEII or Ballymore since both don't really use it that much.
There were even arguments that there should be 2-3 mid-sized teams instead of one massive club, broad based club and i think that makes sense.
Brisbane Roar - More family friendly, corporate franchise model and more likely to be taken over by a billionare (i.e. Sydney FC, Melbourne City type) Brisbane Strikers - More 'hardcore' fanbase, more for the younger lot, community grass-roots club with more fan engagement with qld football etc (i.e. Western Sydney)
Whilst i still think Ipswich makes more sense, but for a 2nd Brisbane club it makes sense to have a seperate identity if they're not going to have a huge geographical difference
Other two could be A-League teams long term but for now maybe start them off in the 2nd division due to bigger restrains than the other two
Ipswich Rovers - Team for the people of Ipswich that they can identify with, biggest hurdle is the lack of any stadia out there Logan - Same story as Ipswich
Canberra should be the 11th team easily. No reason it would get less than 10-11k per match really. Wollongong should be the 12th for that South Sydney market. Both i think are ready to go immediately to be honest

Central Coast Mariners 0-1 Brisbane Roar
Both teams downright suck, Roar should have had 4-5 but are so bad in front of goal, mariners could have had 3 but same story. Both teams cant string together a pass, just shitty teams. Maybe the win boosts the home crowd for next week but i doubt it will help that much.
Crowd: 7073 (Not great but then again who would want to watch the garbage both these two are dishing out)
Adelaide United 1-2 Melbourne Victory
In contrast this was a fantastic game, amazing back and forth stuff, thought the ref was a bit shit though for letting niggly stuff go through (and victory hacking) but both teams had chances to put the game away and the victory did in the 93rd minute.
Crowd: 14 098 (solid crowd at hindmarsh for a derby match, it really doesn't get a lot fuller due to corporate seating and ticket sales)
