Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played his last game for Manchester United, with sources telling ESPN FC that the 36-year-old is close to sealing a move to Major League Soccer this week following persistent links to LA Galaxy. Ibrahimovic, a free transfer signing from Paris Saint-Germain 2016, has not played for United since being substituted during the home draw against Burnley on Dec. 26. And with less than four months remaining on his Old Trafford contract, sources have told ESPN FC that United manager Jose Mourinho has allowed Ibrahimovic to leave now in order to sign for an MLS club. Sources have told ESPN FC that the Galaxy, who have held a long-term interest in Ibrahimovic, are leading contenders to sign the striker, who is determined to continue his career after returning from a serious knee injury at United earlier this season. Ibrahimovic scored 29 goals in 53 appearances for United, including two in the EFL Cup final win against Southampton last season. However, United's £90 million purchase of Romelu Lukaku last summer pushed Ibrahimovic to the sidelines at Old Trafford, and he is now set to call time on his Premier League career, with an announcement on his future expected before the end of the week. Ibrahimovic said earlier this month that he has not ruled out ending his international retirement to play for Sweden at the World Cup in Russia this summer. www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3427880/zlatan-ibrahimovic-has-played-last-manchester-united-game-leaving-for-mls-sources

wonder what's gone on there especially when you consider the season doesn't have long to go

Personally I think it is deplorable the way Mourinho has frozen out a legend of the game in this manner.

Well, so much for the tearful farewell. Fucking Mourinho. Change the record.
