Jose Mourinho has continued his charm offensive in his new job by proving he does not have to be top dog at Manchester United – at least not on the place. The Portuguese coach and his squad jetted to Shanghai from Manchester airport on Tuesday ahead of games against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City on their six-day pre-season tour of China. The new boss was originally allocated one of 30 business class seats on the 12-hour Aeroflot flight. But when he discovered the rest of his backroom staff were sitting in economy class, the 53-year-old gave up his plush seat to sit with them. Mourinho was also reported to have shaken hands with every member of the touring party before taking his seat. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-news-mourinho-flight-11639626Fucking typical.

I don't know about this. Flying with Aeroflot ("official partner"), I think the plane was entirely occupied by United (players, staff, MUTV etc.). Probably there are only 30 business class seats and weren't enough for everybody to get one, considering the palyers were there

Doesnt matter. The club should have been made aware. You would expect United to have their own plane as part of the deal.
Fair play to Jose.

| FOOTBALL NEWS 21/07/2016 10:07, Report by Adam Marshall WHY IBRAHIMOVIC IS NOT ON TOUR IN CHINA Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has explained why Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not included in his squad for Tour 2016, presented by Aon. The Swedish striker is still on holiday after competing at Euro 2016 with his country and, although others who took part in the competition have formed part of the 25-man party in China, the new boy has been granted more time to prepare for his move to Old Trafford. "The best suits are the suits by measure," Mourinho explained at a press conference in Shanghai on Thursday. "Suits made by measure should be better than going to a shop and just buying a size that may fit you well or not so well. I do the same for players. There are no two players the same. "My decision on Zlatan is the consequence of many hours of study, analysis and discussion with my staff. Despite the fact he was out of the Euros one match before the English guys, everything is different. The body is different, the mind is different and the timing to have holidays and even things you don't know, and don't have to know, is to prepare in a different way like we do at training level. "We try to do suits by measure that are perfect for the person and the way I'm building the team is more important for me with the players from other positions than the one I think who is going to play as the striker. I need to change the profile of the team in relation to other dynamics. The striker will be the easy one to finish the puzzle." Luke Shaw also spoke at the press conference ahead of United's friendly against Borussia Dortmund and, as you can read in our separate story, the young left-back reflected on his "emotional" return to fitness following his double leg break. www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2016/Jul/manchester-united-boss-jose-mourinho-explains-zlatan-ibrahimovic-tour-absence.aspx?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=ManUtd

Manchester United’s showcase friendly against Manchester City in Beijing next Monday is under threat of being cancelled due to torrential rain in the Chinese capital. The Manchester neighbours are due to play in front of a sell-out 91,000 crowd at the Bird’s Nest Stadium – the host venue of the 2008 Olympics – as part of the two clubs’ International Champions Cup (ICC) programme this summer. But organisers now fear that the game could fall victim to the weather due to thunderstorms and more rain forecast on Monday ahead of the 8pm local time kick-off. "It is a concern,” said ICC spokesman Xiaozheng Ben. “The weather has been really bad. "But we're hopeful the game will go ahead." City faced Arsenal in the Bird’s Nest in July 2012 in front of a half-full stadium, but the prospect of a Manchester derby in Beijing has prompted tickets to be sold out for the first meeting of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola in their new jobs as United and City managers. There are no plans to reschedule the fixture due to City’s fixture against Borussia Dortmund in Shenzhen on July 28, but United are hopeful that the game will be played next Monday. "We are aware of the bad weather in Beijing, but also that the organisers are working very hard on getting the game to go ahead,” said a club spokesman. www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/manchester-united-vs-manchester-city-jose-mourinho-pep-guardiola-under-threat-bad-weather-beijing-a7147996.html
