Hate to admit it but my local rivals are doing very well this year. Luan and Arthur, the kids they've upfront seem talented. Arthur pocketed the entire Santos team yesterday in a 5x1 win for Grêmio.

Who would be the favourite for the Libatedores chaps? Presuming its not finished?!! Not yet, group stage!!! You don't get favourites in South America, Stew. That's the beauty of the competition. A "finished" team can simply beat you 4-0 at home. You can count on something though - Flamengo will always fail hahahahahaha but to be fair, the team that played least matches on Brazilian série A (relegated of course) played 46. Flamengo played 84 matches last season. In Colombia, they don't care if players are tired - they play matches in successive days sometimes! So it's really hard to predict what's going to happen. My local rivals, Grêmio (by birth as I moved) won it last season and they're still good. They may have a chance on the double.

So it has a break for the summer and then comes back after the World Cup, would that be right? I saw a final a few years ago, the atmosphere was just off the charts.

If players are called up for the World Cup, the clubs have to replace them with youth or reserves. There are no breaks. One competition ends, another starts, then they mount one another and fuck the clubs. The game is very physical too here.

I mean, 84 matches in a year is mental especially when you consider they take domestic flights to the most remote places in South America in continental competitions or the size of Brazil.

Fair play to Atlanta United for making the Eastern Conference final. Good little squad they have put together.
Least one United beat City this weekend.
