Thats a good idea.thanks for mentioning this kind of software.
People in forums who run the same cpu said they managed to overclock it to 3.60ghz and it was working fine.but these are exceptions.most managed to overclock it to 3ghz

Choosing a graphics card is about what you want to use it for. The computer I built for Dianne, I put a fairly expensive card in it (GE Force 720) because she uses it for gaming, my build, I put in a very light graphics card (Nvidia 210). I use mine for movies and general surfing etc. It provides outstanding graphics, works great, in particular, with Windows 7, and I got it for around $75 dollars (Dianne's ran close to 400 as I recall, maybe more) Match the card to the way you use the computer so you don't end up overspending for something that looks cool, and in the end, is overkill.

I highly recommend going to www.reddit.com/r/buildapc, they're great for this kind of thing. Reddit is, as Merse would say, a bag of Revels (e.g. I think the United community there is shit), but this is one of the best ones imo. If you tell them what parts you have (use the PC Part Picker website ideally) they'll probably be able to give you loads of advice and options. I can also try to help if you want - I know a bit about graphics cards but I wouldn't know stuff like whether they'll fit with your motherboard etc.

thanks a lot for your advice gramps and rustin. i`ll give it a try on reddit.
my cpu is an intel quad core q6600 with an ASUSTeK P5Q3 DELUXE mainboard. i got 8gb of ram, although the computer can only use 3,2gb at the moment which is down to the shit windows 7 32bit system. i was thinking to get windows 7 64bit as it would make use of all the 8gb ram but its pretty difficult to get as i found out. thinking now to get windows 10 64bit although i dont like windows 10 and i`m not sure if its fast enough with the older cpu i got. my graphic card at the moment is an ASUS EAH5450 Silent with 1gb of ram. it`s decent enough for surfing and watching movies. i can also play most games on lower quality but i think the computer could do with a better graphic card for gaming. i`m not willing to get an 400 bucks graphic card for this old computer but something between 100-200 and i think it could work much better than it is doing now. just dont want to buy a graphic card and then realize that actually its not really working or getting better

I'm actually looking at changing my GTX 760 2Gb for a RX480 8GB. With the RX5xx on the horizon (few weeks possibly) then I may be able to get it cheaper. Raz, where do you live?

Since the 'end of the world' thread became about VPN's and chome extensions, it's probably a good idea to have a general tech thread.
Ask anything in here tech related that doesn't really deserve its own thread.
