No one else has a chance, imo. Unless the Rents sign more players. Are Chelsea that much worse with Morata over Costa? Tottenham haven't lost a player. City have still got defensive problems and I'm not convinced we've improved the massive amount of points (26) we need to make up. It's a tough one but I think we'll be 3rd, possibly 4th. No one knows re Morata. He's a good player but Costa has been huge for them. Is Bakayako better than Matic? Again, unsure. They certainly haven't strengthened. Spurs have done nothing, totally stood still. We're better know than we were in June.

This season really depends of whether or not Lukaku can score as many goals as Zlatan did, on Martial getting back in form (this one is also on you Jose! He's not going to do that if you play Lingard over him! - I'm pretending Jose is reading this if any of you wondered) and on Rashford, Pogba, Miki and Mata scoring something in the region of 50 goals between them (which should be totally doable all things considered).
On paper, again, we could really have a wonderful season.

I picked Chelsea to finish too 4 but would not be surprised if they unravel and implode. Letting go of Matic and Costa is shocking. This could be Conte's last year!

A lot of pundits predicting us to pip City to the title. Makes me slightly nervous!

United City Chelsea Spurs Arsenal
Scum.
While i really fear that most pundits seem to be thinking or favorin us for the title , it also feels good to be in the mix. But i am not entirely sure we can.
Love if we do win it but have a feeling that City or Chelsea( based on signings ,if they do ) can beat us.

Listening to Jose's presser, he seems to be confident the team can win the league.

Virtually all the predictions I've read have City ahead of us in the top 2. Only seen a handful picking us.
Anyway, it doesn't matter who picks us and who doesn't, it's up to the team to perform. There is zero excuse (unless we are hit by a huge injury crisis) to not mount a real challenge. No more rebuilding, no more post-Fergie. Quite a few of these players have been here long enough and let's be honest haven't handled the pressure properly. The pressure that comes with going to Stoke in April after watching your title rival win. Then getting a result after playing badly. A lot of these guys have failed so far. We've won some trophies, which have obviously been great but our league performance since 2013 has been pathetic for a club like Utd. 4 years is too long. Any more and we're in real danger of returning to the 80s.
So no more excuses. We don't have to win it because anything can happen but we need to be right in the mix right to the end. Anything else is unacceptable.

Anything else is unacceptable. I think the problem is that, unlike the 80's, we now have Champions League qualification to play for as well, which can delude you into thinking your playing at the top table when in reality you aren't. I know Jose will be desperate to return us to that table though, and the only realistic way you can do it is to become top dogs in your own league. It may well be good enough for Arsenal, but absolutely not for us.

I'm hoping for a good season. Pre-season was good, played some good sides instead of the usual crap and we looked in reasonable shape. I still think we are missing something in midfield especially in the creative space. City have the best squad of players, there's no doubt about that in my opinion. The biggest improvement I want to see, is in our home form. We can't repeat last seasons home form.

I think there will be a late flurry of transfers which might render this null and void, but I don't think there's a clear outright favourite. City should be given the sums they've spent, but their defence is sketchy unless Kompany stays fit or Pep goes full LvG and protects them. Conte might implode if players don't come in and the Hazard murmurings are true. We are heavily dependent on Rashford/Martial/Mkhitaryan/Pogba breaking out. If they do, we'll challenge. If not, we won't.
Again, late additions might change all that, but I don't see a clear winner yet.

1. United 2. Rents 3. City 4. Spurs 5. Arsenal 6. Scouse bastards
I think the Rents won't last in Europe, so it won't be much of a problem for them in terms of squad depth, tip Morata to do just fine in the premier league. The transfer window isn't closed yet and they have some quality youth players so domestically I expect them to be challenging.
Of course there's bias in my opinion, but I can't see City threatening as much as they should on paper. Not that they won't be a challenging team, but given how much they've spent on a certain quantity of players deemed 'quality', I can't see them doing as well as they should.

So much depends on a few of our potentially key players stepping out of the shadows. That will come with confidence IMO, so keep going as we started and we should gain some serious momentum.
