Some people I think are unaware of what Pogba is at his best. Gerrard, when he was in his prime. A license to roam, get forward, shoot etc. Always played best with a more disciplined CM behind him, Alonso being a prime example. Any time he was forced to play in a more restricted role it was a waste. He could do it but why bother? Pogba had Pirlo and others behind him at Juve. What he absolutely isn't is a Scholes. If you're waiting for him to be that you're wasting your time. So what is he? So he needs Pirlo to control the play and others to defend because he hasn't a fucking scooby in defense either. What's Pogbas best job then apart from dabs and hairdo's LOL Crossbar challenge champion? It's like the Emperors New Clothes again. IF you can't see how great Pogba is you don't understand football. What I see is a really talented ball player who is also a very physical athlete which helps him shield the ball and in one on one situations. He hasn't lived up to his hype and was never that huge at Juve either. Missing headers from 6 yards out last night and last year in important games and hitting the crossbar consistently is not bad luck it's poor accuracy. His decision making is poor both in defense and at critical times in front of goal. The above is a bit harsh in part I guess, he's a good player, but he really needs to do more this year to be considered anywhere near Gerrard/Lampard in their prime

The likes of Robson, Souness, Giles and Keane are finished. Midfielders are almost all specialists. Whether or not you see it is neither here nor there. Unless I missed the bits where Kante is pinging 60 yard cross-field balls and hitting thunderbolts from outside the box and Ali is tracking back runners and making crisp interceptions? Just as well Pogba is only 24. Remind what Gerrard had achieved by that age?

Apologies if already said, just got in and too damn tired/lazy to trawl through earlier pages, but bloody Nora, their midfield. Work to do,but sure it will be rewarded in time, not everyday you play against Isco,Casemiro, and the best player on the park by a country mile, Kroos.

No wonder we've overhauled the scouting department if that was classed as a reason to not sign someone. Personally I think he has a lovely head.

so if the original post i was refering to, states we still need one of those players; a modric/kroos type player. who do you suggest ? because we bought the up and coming player to do what they do, as they play the exact same position. i just stated that we bought that player, a player to control and dictate games. See my post above. Pogba isn't that player. honestly, i still dont get where your both coming from. modric or kroos didnt just sit in front of the defence controlling tempo, like Pirlo. they were up the pitch attacking and creating chances. not neccessarily in the box but around the box. isnt that what pogba is all about? isnt that what gerrard was all about? we have just bought a player to sit in front of the defence and shield. so thats taken 1 responsibility away from him. we then have herrera a neat and tidy footballer and can do all of it. then there is pogba, the player who should be controlling games, picking the ball up constantly and being an outlet. hitting long or short balls. isnt that what modric or kroos do? i am not saying he doesnt do that, but i was just sayin to that O.P that we have bought a player to do their role.

The following year at 26 pretty much single handedly winning them the FA Cuo. I'm not stuck in a time warp and certainly don't compare him to those players you said he was more like Gerrard in his prime.. Let's agree to differ I don't rate him as highly as some, but I certainly hope he proves me wrong the next few years

I would just about guarantee, barring injury, that he will definitely prove you wrong, hopefully by about midway through this coming season.
