And? I was pointing out that the 500k would be about right for a pre-tax figure. Given that the paper said 117mill over 4.5 years. If it was 500k after tax that would make his wages around 234mill. You said that the 'correct' figure was £250k, but that's only if people talk about after-tax, which I was saying basically no one does. So the 'correct' figure in most conversations would be the £500k, though both are true depending on your point of view. If you genuinely always discuss salaries for all players at all clubs in after-tax terms then more power to you, but that isn't normal. The media obviously have a ton of ABU ridiculousness surrounding us, but if we are paying £500k before tax then reporting that as £500k before tax is in line with what fans of all clubs and past media reports have done, so it wouldn't be an example of ABU shittery. Yes, the correct figure for what they take home. Quite why you wouldn't look at what you get every week/month after tax is beyond me. Given that players usually ask for a post-tax wage, during negotiations, that would be odd. Companies want to know what it will cost them overall, but most employees are only bothered about what they get after they have been shafted by the taxman. Sanchez didn't want 350k a week pre-tax. He wanted that post-tax.

Matter of hours by all accounts now! You do know that, about a week ago, Di Marzio was reporting it was done and dusted to city right? The guy hasn't a clue.

Ill say one thing though. Im loving the shit storm that's surround the whole figures "breakdown" of the deal. People are going mental on Facebook with some of these articles.
Most of them are fabricated bullshit to sell the story of course everyone is believing it simply because its us.
Amazing how other player haven't had any breakdown of their contracts.
Hated, adored but never ignored.

We follow the finances of Manchester United the company, not the individual players, as we support United, not individual players, so it makes more sense to talk about what United are paying, not what Alexis is taking home.

Going to a party next Saturday for a group of mates where the majority are Arsenal supporters. I haven't got a United shirt since about 2012 because they're so expensive but I'm really tempted to get one of these and just take off my jacket when I get in the party to reveal it purely to piss them off.

He's becoming like the kid brother who's idiocy you constantly despair at but underneath find it quite comfortingly familiar.

He's becoming like the kid brother who's idiocy you constantly despair at but underneath find it quite comfortingly familiar. I get it's grating for some. But I find him far more engaging than the likes of Scholes/Butt/Giggs/Beckham etc. It's good to have a player who has a sense of actual outgoing personality. But that might just be me.

I only talk about salaries when it gets bought up. People are baulking at the 500k a week mentioned. But it would be a correct figure, as when worked back, it roughly equates what the player was asking for back in September. Especially when you take the high signing-on fee. Thats it really. I don't really care what he is getting pre-tax. Thats the clubs problem. It's better than going on debt repayments. And if they weren't paying more mediocre players such high wages, then maybe the top players wouldn't be looking for as much as they are. It's about time investment was made into adding quality to the playing squad. EDIT: Looking back, it looks like my use of the word "correct" would be the source of this all. It was meant in terms of it all adding up to what the player/his reps were asking for. Which was given as a post-tax figure.
