You need to do about 10 days in the fermenter then add the carbo drops in the bottles & leave for a month. British beers aren't carbonated sometimes so I don't know if you will be doing it that way or not.

Splurge and get glass carboys, I don’t mess with the plastic buckets. I have a six and five gallon, easier to clean less likely to get funny stuff in your beer.
Get a good five gallon pot for your boil and use unique brewing utensils. I have stainless steel ladles etc. Don’t use the same stuff you stir soup.
Start with simple recipes and get good at them. I have brewed for awhile and still can’t pull off a decent sour with my set up. If you need a good book check out Brewing Classic Styles by John Palmer.
And like Aus said, you can do everything right but if your equipment is not clean, there is a good chance your beer is going to suck.
On a side note. Pliny the Younger is out this month if you ever get a chance, drink it!

I brewed for a few years and produced some good drops, my favourite being a coffee infused stout. Avoid the ginger beer though, I got cocky and went for an alcoholic version only to nearly destroy the house with exploding bottles!

Coffee Stouts are my go to. Love brewing them. I get locally roasted beans of different varieties each time. Changes the beer subtly. You can also add at different points during fermentation.
Never had bottles pop, but definitely flooded my bathroom 2nd day of fermentation once. Wife was happy.

Me too. I got kegging equipment for Christmas but haven’t had time to put anything in it. Trying to keep the wort at the proper temp in a house without insulation where temps range about 40 degrees between night and day is tough.
