Second all these, amazing places to visit. Also second Caaj on Edinburgh had a terrific time there, very friendly backpacking city. Would also throw in Lucerne and Budapest. Good hostels, terrific people. Cannot say enough about Florence. Far and away my favorite city in Italy. A tip, Interrail passes are key, but don’t be afraid to book flights either. I flew from Munich to Edinburgh for €50 and saved myself a day of travel. If you have he extra scratch that is. If not, travel at night on long train rides. Yes, I heard that flights are super cheap compared to the US. Is there a difference between eurorail vs InterRail? Not sure. I know the first time I was over there Eurorail was mainly Western Europe and you had to get another rail pass for Eastern Europe. Pretty sure I got the Interail pass the second time I went and was able to use it to get to Prague and Budapest. It’s way cheaper to travel via plane in Europe Than the States. We are going to Tahoe for a week and flying from San Diego to Reno (50 minutes each way). Tickets are fucking $540 round trip.

If you hit Scotland Max then go to Edinburgh Castle only around 1/2 a mile from where I live or go to Caithness in the far north of Scotland and see the Northern Lights in all there splendour. If you hit Germany then go to Bavaria in Southern Germany and do some skiing and then go to a few Bavarian beer festivals or pubs and have a good pint. I had no idea you could see that in the UK. Only a 1120mile round trip for me to drive I am lost on your post? You live in Bristol, don't you? then it's 423.23 km, 262.98 mi, to Caithness, Scotland, that photo of the NL is Caithness.

Hi friends, I was wondering if you all had any tips about bagpacking Europe over the summer? I.E places to see like hidden gems of Europe to restaurants you have to eat at (it’s Important). I wanted to go this summer to be able experience Europe during the World Cup. I’ll probaby spend 3-4 weeks in Europe and I’m thinking about creating an Itinerary. If you have any tips, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Oh the countries I would like to hit are : England Scotland France Spain Germany Switzerland Belgium Italy I'd recommend Portugal too. Algarve is a beauty during the summer. Another country is Croatia, I place Dubrovnik as a must see. Ireland, north to south. The Irish here would be better to recommend places than I would be. As for France, it depends on what you're looking for and the time you have! You can PM me if you want as I was living there recently.

I spent some time in a small French town on the coast Bologne (spelling?). Very nice place about an hour outside Lille, would certainly recommend.

Speaking of France, if you are interested in any way by wine, then the Bourgogne (Burgundy) region is fantastic. Little town called Beaune and do the vineyard tour in a Land Rover. Fascinating. Also Trouville-Deuville at the very northern coast. It's like the Hamptons for Parisians. Not cheap though. Kind of place that has diamond shops and expensive clothes shops on side streets. Super affluent and a cracking beach though. Oh, and did we mention Florence?

If you're coming to the UK, you really shouldn't miss wales. Pembrokeshire is one of my favourite places, it's great if you like hiking or castles.
