PCT has some awesome hikes. I have done about 150 miles on it over the years. Problem is, the first 250 miles or so is shit. I wish I could take the time out to do it. What an experience. He has posted a video on the blog where he is in the middle of nowhere during a lightning storm. Fucking scary shit!! Happens a lot actually and comes out of nowhere. It can be totally sunny one moment, then all of a sudden you are seeing strikes and hearing thunder all around. Intense, but pretty amazing. Usually does not last that long I have found. Get low, stay away from large boulders, have a cocktail and enjoy the show. Not much else you can do if your are caught in an electrical storm.

It's an epic hike that one. Ever thought of hitting it yourself? I think it would be pretty life changing. I read about a guy who has just completed the Sultans trail, which sounds pretty unreal too.

me and the missus are planning on goin to colarado next year. any tips for places to stay etc would be great. we want to take advantage of their new laws.... Come to California. I can point you at a bunch of stuff to do and I have a “store” a block from my house. Colorado is awesome though. What parts? I can get you some info. I have friends up there. im not entirely sure tbh, me and the missus are still to sit down and plan it. we have seen some parts on TV shows (Gone to Pot - see YouTube). we want to go stay in some cabins though in the mountains. go clubbing. see some ancient land (seen that theres a few different places). then were going to go to Florida after that to play on the rides etc. then maybe have a few days somewhere else or go down to mexico planning to go for about 3 weeks in total

I have only been to Colorado once, but it was pretty epic. Good beer too. If you want to stop in California do let me know. Happy to show you around and give you some suggestions. Denver to San Diego is usually a pretty cheap flight and getting anywhere in Mexico from San Diego is pretty easy and cheap. They just built an express bridge over the border to the Tijuana airport. We flew to Cabo San Lucas last year for $150 round trip. Check out Valle De Guadalupe. Good west coast wine without the crowds in Napa, Willamette and Santa Barbara County. Missus would love it.

I think about it all the time. Alas, I have a two year old and a mortgage, wife might have some qualms. At some point I would like to do the John Muir trail which is a section of the PCT from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney. 215 miles or so, takes about two weeks. Probably more likely. The PCT actually starts about 30 minutes from where I live, so I have done some hikes out that way. The trail does not get really pretty though until Kennedy Meadows. The first part is mainly through desert regions, which are brutal. On a side note, my folks are hiking across the England in September. That sounds like a pretty sweet set up. The agency carries your stuff from one Inn to the next for you, makes me feel like a mug carrying around a heavy pack and sleeping on the dirt.

Should rename this to backpacking across the world. That would be an excellent thread.

Do Portugal. It’s by far and away my favourite European country. Cheap too! I'm half Portuguese and half Brazilian and every time I visit my relatives (used to do it once a year), I'd visit the country from north to south with relatively little money – bear in mind that the Brazilian real is a weak currency near the Euro. I might go in august as my trip to Spain went to space due to the death of my stepdad's father and if you are curious about prices you all can hit me up
