God I am so bored of the international break. Dying for some real football.
Anyway, this lot have been pretty decent since Carvalhal came in, albeit with the odd slip. They'll probably defend very deep so we'll need to have plenty of imagination in attack (i.e. Mata to start please).
Alexis and Pogba should be fresher after the break. I'd like to see them given a fresh start with this - an opportunity to show they can turn their form around before the big one next week. They're both top drawer on their day, and both (particularly Pogba) have been benched to give them time out of the spotlight. I think this is a good game to bring them back in and see what they've got.
Speaking of next week, the biggest reason to win this one (sadly) is to make sure we don't give City a guard of honour, and then not let them win it when we face them.

The worst thing about this international week has been the press who have been hysterical even by their standards.

Fuck the Friendly International matches, the players come back still floating in cloud cuckoo land and forget they are supposed to be professional footballers, knock in a few goals with Lukaku, Pogba & Sanchez scoring... please.

Put a bit more distance between us and one/both of Chelsea and Spurs. Fuck this up and lose against City and we're dragged right back into it again.

Swansea are fighting for their Premiership lives. Hardly the opposition for the pedestrian mood we have seen only too often. I worry that they’ll be much more focused than our lot, who may think top 4 is already guaranteed

Rojo played in the friendly vs Spain, and of course earned his mandatory yellow card. Does he partner with Bailly? McTominay was out in the first friendly with Scotland (ankle injury), so would assume he's not available. Should be interesting after the heat Jose took with his last few lineups as to how he sets us up this weekend, lots of potential drama on the starting 11.

Well Smalling hasn't done anything to be dropped so he should partner Bailly imo.

Whether Rojo is however, that's different.

Not much between Smalling, Rojo and Jones but Smalling isn't a sick note so he should be last out of the door.

I feel sick, that it's come down to this. We've managed to stem the tide somewhat after the City takeover but after the Glazers rocked up and squeezed the club finances it was only a matter of time they got their shit together and we were left in a position of weakness. The catalogue of feck ups made after Fergie left have helped contribute towards the mess we have now. If we do have to give them a guard of honour it will never come close to the 6-1 Aguero last minute goal season. Hopefully it motivates them in the same way it did in Fergies last season.
