Any new owners that revert back to this badge will instantly win me over. I think the Glazers actually promised to do that ages ago and just never did. Classic.

I think its time we moved on from the idea of Ratcliffe completely. He doesn't have the money for it and he doesn't have other backers with him.

The Athletic | Football @theathleticfc · 3h 🔴 No growth in commercial and matchday income since 2016 but wages ballooned from £232m to £384m 🔴 Pre-tax loss of £115.5m in 2020-21 - or £2m a week 🔴 Should Manchester United be worried about FFP rules?
Anyone got an Athletic sub & read the full article?

Essentially the continued reference to revenues is misleading as an indicator of financial wellbeing. Revenues are up but the club is running a pre-tax loss (the £2m a week reference). Wage bills have skyrocketed, and Woodward’s commercial income has stalled - who knew there was a link between being mediocre on the pitch, and being less atteactive to sponsors and people buying merch?
So costs rise higher than income, sponsors are willing to pay less (or just fuck off, like Teamviewer) and United is not a brand/marketing opp that looks so appealing.
Only way out is to be good at football. Who knew?

The Athletic are running a story that the Club's Finance Dept hosted a recent meeting with a delegation from UEFA. The suggestion from their headline is that, it may have been about FFP. Not read the article because it’s behind their paywall. Anyone read it at all?

It’s incredibly boring, but in a nutshell UEFA are rolling out a new FPP regime that is way more stringent than what has previously existed. By 2025/6, UEFA’s new FPP framework aims to limit clubs to spending 70% of their revenue on wages, transfer costs and agents’ fees. At United, factoring these costs (and amortisation on players’ contracts as part of the equation) this % has been steadily rising (unsurprisingly) since 2015 from just under 60% to 88% this year. If this continues this will mean United could be in trouble when the 70% threshold comes into play in 2025. Obviously this is contingent on that ratio being about 70% and UEFA actually showing some teeth in enforcement, but that’s the issue United were presumably hoping to talk to UEFA about. This could have an impact on how much the club spends, but the easiest way of moving that percentage in the right direction would be to offload lots of our deadwood.
That Maguire sale has never looked so sensible.
Caveat: this is how I understand it, I may be wrong so apologies if so!

I never thought this was possible, but Woodward's comment about what we do on the pitch not mattering looks worse and worse with time. I think even he would realise how incredibly stupid it was. The rest of the big six (minus City and Chelsea's blatant cheating) have just caught up with little trouble and he has nothing to show for the vast majority of his reign as CEO. As bad as he was, history will judge him even worse.
Cunt.
