patience ? we have been stuck with Jones Smalling and Rojo for how long !?!?!?!?!? we needed a CB in the summer window. didn't get one. we needed one this window. haven't got one. how long is it gonna be until they say, actually we do. its clear as day. theyre mugging the fans off big time. any manager who comes in. knows we need a cb. anyone in world football knows our weakness is at CB. its not hard.
By all means, bring in 2-3 players in summer, one of which an established CB. Never said otherwise. We can get one in the summer for 25 million
25 million? That’s optimistic !

we needed players last summer. we need players now. we haven't got time for patience. were not in the top 4. our direct rivals are strengthening and it means we have even less of a chance to get top 4. unless we bring in players. we have no chance.

We need patience in our approach to the transfer market. For too long we have thrown money at mediocrity instead of identifying transfer targets that would fit in a long-term plan. I don't care how good EA Sports reckon the player is. Klopp wanted VVD and instead of signing someone else when the initial attempt failed he waited for 5 months. The scouse fans went ape shit that Klavan was still playing but it's obvious to all it was the right thing to do. Tielemans may be a decent player but I'd rather the club have a strategy than throw money just because a high-profile youngster becomes available
He’s available on loan. People on here watch a lot of football so don’t dismiss their judgements as something they’ve come to via a video game.
We are all entitled to an opinion, I have no issue with that.
It's that every other player that is rumored to be on his way somewhere during the transfer window is portrayed as a potential target. If anything good comes out of this clusterfuck of a season is that we can plan ahead while giving our current squad members a chance and identify targets that will be the right fit for those who prove themselves and survive the summer cull.
We've had the Schneiderlins, Depays and Schweinies here and got nowhere. I'm sure all cam on the back of rave reviews. As long as we can identify 2-3 targets for the summer I'm perfectly happy with what we have until the end of the season and wait until the following summer for two more

Tottenham will trigger the extension clause in defender Toby Alderweireld's contract, but have also included a £25m release clause, manager Mauricio Pochettino says.
The Belgium international's current deal runs out next year but the club has an option to extend it until 2020.
The release clause of £25m will apply up to the last two weeks of the summer transfer window.
Pochettino said on Thursday: "It is the same situation as Jan [Vertonghen]."
Spurs announced earlier in December that the club had extended Vertonghen's contract until 2020.
The Belgium defender is back in training after a thigh injury and is due to return in January.
Alderweireld joined Spurs in July 2015 from Spanish club Atletico Madrid. He has made 17 league appearances this season for Pochettino's side.

That’s just not true. Who advocated for us to sign Higuain? Denis Suarez? Tielemans has long been mentioned on this board, particularly by Bestie. In the same way Alt put us on to Neves about 4 years ago.

I'm not overly sold on Alderweireld anymore now that Lindelof seems to be coming good. He's very good, but he's a ball playing CB. We need an upgrade on Smalling who can dominate in the air (would have been very helpful last night instead of Jones). Partner whoever that maybe with Lindelof and I think we are good to go.
Come the summer, buy new CB, sack off Rojo etc and loan out Tuanzebe to a PL team for a season (or maybe he'll be ready to be a squad player?).

Fair play. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I've had enough Koulibaly, Skriniar, Godin, Pulisic, and god knows who else for one window. Next summer is gonna be brutal.

Get him, pair him with Vic, promote Axel and keep one of Smalling or Jones. There’s 5 with Bailly, more than enough.

I agree. I've been really impressed with how Lindelof has done on the right of defense and believe he and Bailly just need an experienced/top level head beside them to bring them along, so in that case Koulabily for me.
In my mind we need a natural starter at RB, and its clear our midfield is paper thin. Matic / Herrera / Pogba, if any of those get injured I don't particularly trust what we have in the squad. If anything I think attack is one of the areas that needs the least attention. If we do cut our losses with Sanchez we could finance a right winger or right sided forward whatever you want to label that position and bring balance to our attacking options.

Toby for 25 million is a no brainer in my opinion. The figures thrown here regarding Koulibaly are almost 4 times that.
Toby is 1.86m so aerial dominance should not be an issue. He's also adapted to this league and should hit the ground running. At 30 he's still have at least 3-4 good seasons in him. We can't have enough ball playing CBs. If we had another ball playing CB last night instead of Jones Pereira would have been saved his own brainfart

Toby is still an excellent player. I’d be more than happy with him.

Toby is still an excellent player. I’d be more than happy with him. More than a good header, we need a proper defensive leader. He offers that.
