www.espn.com/soccer/lille/story/4388042/how-lille-defied-the-odds-to-stand-on-the-brink-of-ligue-1-title This is a very good read. A lot of the same factors as Leicester. Goes to show the difference that coaching and savvy transfer dealings can make. Particulary impressed they brought in Campos from Monaco. Meanwhile we are internally promoting Fletcher and Murtough who have zero track record in player recruitment. Funny the way they fleeced Arsenal for £100m for Pepe and Gabriel. That went a long way towards building their title winning team. And much the same story as Atletico. PSG scored way more goals. But Lille had the meanest defence in the league. It's also funny recalling the meltodwn here when Arsenal allegedly beat us in a "race" to sign those two Meltdown over Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Magalhaes? You can do better than reaching for that. I heavily doubt there ever was any meltdown over those two. Come on, try harder - fair few other names to think of than those two to make your case.

Look, I'm getting on a bit so I didn't trust memory alone and checked the relevant transfer threads for a couple of minutes. Believe me (or check it out yourself) it's quite funny... I don't really "have a case" here. Just a warning that transfer thread bollocks is here to stay!

Think Zidane has a bad case of not understanding progress. For the first time in their history, Real don't have even one player in Spain's squad for a major tournament. Aging stars, terrible signings and apparently very little in terms of homegrown talent. That and being financially fucked and I can understand Zidane walking

I’m also not sure any of us are in a position to go ‘I told you so’ seeing as though we’ve all certainly lost it over certain players or moments. I myself went nuts when Bayern beat us to Renata Sanchez. And that’s just one.

He doesn't like the rest of us in the Ole out camp so he'll use such hindsight is 20-20 moments to reinforce his agenda. I'm quite confident nobody melted down over Pepe and fucking Gabriel.

I actually stressed that in the past when I mentioned the wankfest surrounding the signing of one Alexis Sanchez. I think it’s worth pointing out those instances when we start the ritual of losing our shit when some random tabloid prints a random guesswork about one of our rivals “showing interest” in some random player we may even not be interested in.

Last year’s window ended any excitement with it as a concept for me. The Glazers' non-delivery of Sancho or a CB, despite Ole getting Champions League football, finally revealed what we all knew. I expect the worst when it comes to transfers and am rarely disappointed. Occasionally I get a pleasant suprise like Bruno. Although he was 6 months late...

Well Lille's manager has followed their DOF out of the door. I guess Poch might actually be able to win the title now!

Pirlo confirmed to be sacked. Once again a big club realises that the ‘knows the club’ experiment doesn’t work - if only we were a big club…

And this is after achieving top 4 and getting to the knock out stages of the Champions League. That would have gotten him a 3 year contract over here.

Apparently Ange Postacoglu is favorite to take over Celtic.
Not a name that means much to English fans I'd imagine but he's huge in Australia, easily the greatest manager ever over here. Be very interesting to see how he goes if he does get the job.

Will probably work out better for them than hiring a coach who won a few trophies in Norway but was a super sub for the club back in the day

No sympathy whatsoever for Messi. Fuck his tears. If he wanted this much to stay and end his career at Barca, he should've played for less money, not 50m a year or whatever he wanted.
