Seems that a friend of Mason committed suicide and that may explain the current situation... GNev referenced it on a Tweet... Hope he's getting counseling. That's not something he should go through alone. I went through it at that age. My best friend was only 18. None of us knew he was suffering. Still haunts me to this day that I didn't see any signs. 30 years on. I've had five friends commit suicide. All men. All no older than early 30s. Mental health is no joke. Mason needs support, not ridicule for what is a fucking game at the end of the day.

Kid just lost one of his best mates to suicide. That can weigh heavy on a young man. Time to close ranks on the kid and not be calling him out for the smallest indiscretions.

Just a quick reminder that Phil Foden was in Iceland too yet the media forget this. Prejudice and systemic racism is still here and it’s sad that a good young lad like Mason is being dragged through the mud. One way to shut everyone up Mason, play well.

Or it might be because Mason plays for Manchester United one of the biggest and arguably most popular football club on the planet , while Foden plays for City.

Na can't be true he's the next ravel Morrison Funny thing though...having been bitten by that particular series of events I still, for a moment, had a fear that it might be something similar to Ravel...massively talented and going down a wrong route...glad to know that it isn't the case... They are very different personalities, it would seem, so let's hope Mason gets through this and back to his best...

Whoever it is it’s not going to stay out of the public domain for much longer.

One paper describes the footballer as in his 20's so let's hope that part is true. So much awful press being aimed at him right now.

Have tried to think of the best thing to say about the whole mason Greenwood media, training stuff. He is going through some challenges off the pitch and at his age or any age it will affect the person. If the club have offered him time off (I would hope they did) to just let matters sink in better and really just mourn and he has refused that then I would hope on the training field he applies himself fully.
Any player that plays for the club sadly has to realise that the media attention can switch from good to bad in a heartbeat, Manchester United sells papers and gets online hits so therefore I am hoping that as part of the education process this is hammered in every week. It’s not right and not easy but the sooner you accept it’s the reality of things the better equipped you become to let it fly over and talk on the pitch.

Mirror have ran a story that we’re terrified Mason will be the next Ravel Morrison. Think they must’ve had a sneaky read of this forum.
It’s beyond a joke really. Mason’s done more in a year of first team football than Morrison has done in his whole career. Ravel hasn’t managed a year of first team football. There’s no comparison between the two.
You’ve got a lad there who is badly struggling and instead of protecting this great talent, the media have opted to attempt to shoot him down. When Wayne Rooney and Owen came through, they were golden boys. Great WHITE hopes of English football. Beloved and protected throughout their formative years until the media got bored of doing so. Mason hasn’t been afforded that. Couldn’t possibly think what is different about Mason compared to those two.
