This dof or what ever the club want to call it as should of been done before ole was appointed its just another fuck up again that will drag on and on with out fuck all happening Because there's no planning. Ole was caretaker , went on a good run and all the plans were thrown out. I remember before the results nosedived that the club were reviewing the need for a DOF , now it's back on the table. Ole suggested a while back a couple of signings being added to the squad, now the penny has dropped that this lot need more than just good coaching most need binning off.

I was referring to bringing kids through not buying them which is why I mentioned Wes Brown. It’s like some fans claiming Pogba came through our academy when in reality he spent most of his time elsewhere. Or Janazai even. Sancho, Sterling were youth products from elsewhere rather than their previous clubs. Ok, from the youth ranks after Wes Brown. O'Shea Fletcher Evans Gibson FFS, sit down and think for 5 minutes. Wes Brown was better than the lot of them put together.

It's not just a 1 man operation at ajax they have just shown how a proper club is run from top to bottom, we could do alot worse then getting vds back in some sort of capacity Edwin's role at Ajax is basically Ed's without the transfer dickery. Overmars is the one getting players. So what ur saying is we should sack Ed and bring in vds instead

Wes Brown was better than the lot of them put together. Wheres the sarcasm font because it cant be serious? Wes Brown was top drawer. That 2008 team was as good as the treble winning one, he started in the CL final and fully deserved his place. A very underrated player. Injuries didn’t help him unfortunately. Fletcher was very good . I won’t tell you what I think of the other 3 because some here would probably have the vapours.

If I had a choice between a peak Wes and those others mentioned it would still be a no brainer for me.

Nice enough article there, but I really think too much is made of a DOF being the silver bullet the club needs. Strategic thinking yes, 100%, but there seems to be some notion that hire a DOF and watch us surge up the table. That won't happen. Hard working, talented players with the right coaching will get results, fuck mathematicians, stats men (gag) & sharp suits. Interesting part of the article was it revealing the underwhelming football background of some of the lauded DOFs, yet a lot of our own fans would turn their noses up at Phelan or Rio who have great CVs. It's typical really, the woman at the other table always looks more inviting than your own date, the guy on the bench gets world beater status lol, I think we could be fine with Rio, Phelan or Fletcher for that matter. Oh and DOF is still a vague role, our problems stem from Ed Woodward and absentee ownership, David Gil and a competent manager and we'd be much better off imo.

You said, Wes Brown was the standout after 92. I’ve given more than enough names who represented this club with great distinction. You’re ability to fit a narrative is as admirable as it annoyingly moribund.

None of those come close to Wes. Gibson Cleverly were Stoke level players Fletcher was good, as was O’Shea. Would they start in a top team if we are being honest? Not really. That doesn’t take away their contributions Evans didn’t kick on from earlier promise.
