I've been following this club for the best part of 35 years. I don't think I've ever known a more hated current player. It wasn't his fault that we spunked a world record fee on a mid-table player or given the captaincy despite overwhelming mediocrity, but all the bullshit since then is all on him.

I think Harry is slabhead and shoulders above Treebeard in the hatred stakes. Tree was divisive, but still had some support from average fans. Harry is hated by just about everyone apart from the toppest of top reds and the odd FIFA fan or twitter dickhead that can't understand that price-tag doesn't always denote ability. |

I think the bile towards Rooney was predicated upon the fact that he could have been one of the best, ever, and he let it go to waste (it was for me, anyway)and overstayed his welcome. Maguire's always been shit, with a few spells of 'above average', and he walked into a totally undeserved captaincy which he has since executed with a mixture of arrogance and incompetence. |

I never looked at him the same way but didn't completely hate him for it, just the way it was handled by Rooney and Stretford. The second time was a blatant money grab and he'd obviously been tapped up by city. He was finished after that. The disgusting waste of potential and seeming indifference to making the most out of potentially greatest Englishman ever ability didn't help either. |
