Have to blame Southgate aswell. Not making excuses for Maguire but aside from the fact he isn't very good why are you picking a defender that's not only completely bang out of form but also one that has zero confidence. Just makes things worse.

Maybe a loan out to a good but not elite European club where he won’t be under the spotlight every minute of every game to give him time to get his confidence back at least? |

He's not good enough that much is certain. Even if he was to improve it'll never be enough here. The abuse though is just ridiculous at this point. Some always seem to go too far. I mean the bloke just wants to play football, it's just unfortunate for him he's not good enough at this level. Ten Hag has seen this which is why he is where he is. Best outcome for both club and player is to move elsewhere asap. |

Wow. Maguire even looks terrible in a back three now. I think we need to sell him in January and buy a young enthusiastic CB that can develop under Varane and Erik into a world class player. I do not think there is really much that can be done with Maguire. He is not intelligent or disciplined enough to play under Erik and with his tendency to get caught out of position and lack of pace he is a massive liability. And Erik like most good coaches is building from the back starting off by firming up our defence and then over time we should start to score more goals, control games better, and play with more fluency.

AWB and Maguire cost us £130M. Imagine what Erik could have done with that money?
We finally have a manager who knows how to buy quality and we are already pouring cold water over the idea of spending more money in January and using all the money wasted by previous managers as an excuse.
