Of course it is all about a pay off. The delusional prick wants £15m to cover the entire deficit in his wages over the 4 year contract offered by West Ham compared to what he is on with us. £15m he wants! We are offering £6m which is more than generous considering how poor he's been for us.
Nothing we can do really except to tell him that if he refuses a pay off then he is training with the youth team all season. Even Southgate wouldn't get away with picking Maguire for England if he's training with the youth team all season.
Erik got it entirely wrong putting Maguire on the bench tonight because it gives him that glimmer of a hope that in a defensive injury crisis he might get a few games which as we saw last season is all that is required for Southgate to continue to pick him.

I thought it was disgusting + embarrassing when Arsenal fans booed Eboue all those years ago.
But, if Maguire sticks around and it continues to be publicized that he's hanging on for the payday, then I fear he'll get pelted this season.
