Matic is the new whipping boy on here, but in the last match he wasn't bad. If Rashford had more composure it could have been 4-0 at half time, with Matic involved, and the complexion of the game obviously would have changed with each goal. He seems to not be able to keep running for more than 60 minutes but I think he can still do a job recycling the ball, starting attacks, calming things down. I didn't put him in my lineup because I want Mata as #10 and opted for Pereira's pace to counter Mata's lack of. If Mata doesn't play, I'd play Matic over Pereira, bearing in mind he needs to get subbed out around 65 minutes. mate...you say matic had a decent game against astana while at the same time completely ignoring freds strong performance in that game. now you say you'd play matic over andreas IF mata doesnt play. apart from the fact that they all play different positions in midfield, i'm totally confused now and have no idea what you're actually talking about when it comes down to our midfield at the moment.

He was really lively in the first 20 mins and you could tell he was really trying. Then he got tired and went back to his lazy style of play. He was a good player but sadly his best days are behind him and he isnt willing to be a bit part player, so I expect him to leave in summer.

If Mata plays, I don't want another slow player behind him. If he does not play, Matic can play. I wouldn't play Mata and Matic together. I don't think Pereira is as good as either one of them, but he's faster than both. If you look at the lineup I did, it makes some sense. Matic had a good 60 minutes. After that he was gassed and needed to get hooked. As mentioned, if Rasher was more clinical it would have been 4-0 by the time Matic came off.

After the hour mark in his last match he was horrendous, got put on his arse with ease by somebody half his size because he was gassed to fuck. Against the bigger sides he'll be a liability after a while. Plenty of other players have been criticised lately so hardly a whipping boy on here. He looked half decent against Astana for 45 minutes. What good is that? There's no case to be made for him to start anymore. He'll be a liability against any mobile midfield, doesn't even have to be top tier.

Matic is finished and shouldnt be starting in any midfield for us in the prem, the way ole wants us to play Matic hasn't got the legs for it, we all new the lack of midfield signings would cost us but sticking Matic in is going backwards imo even with the limited number of options we have.

Travelling squad. How have they spent so much money over the years and this is the shit we have to show for it United travelling squad vs West Ham: De Gea, Romero, Grant Wan-Bissaka, Young, Lindelof, Rojo, Jones, Tuanzebe, Maguire Matic, Fred, Pereira, McTominay, Mata, Gomes, Lingard Rashford, Chong, James

What's the reason Greenwood isn't traveling ?

Fred should start again unless he's totally gassed. With Pogba missing he's surely our best replacement.

mctominay and fred in midfield with angel as the no 10, although it will probably be mata.
rojo or young as left back, i'm ok with either of them as young has done a decent job so far. i would actually go for young as rojo looked absolutely shattered when he got subbed, which wasnt a surprise given how long he was missing and the mental shift he put in.
hopefully james is not rushed back and fit to play the whole game. very nervous about this game and really confident. 3 points, however they may come will do for now.

Need Mata to step up. There's not much creativity there at all otherwise, and Matic starting means the midfield is pretty stodgy even with McTominay's running. At least Fred is on the bench - though this all really emphasises how few game-changers we have in the squad.
Also, I hope it's either Periera wide, or a diamond, as Mata wide would be disappointing. Given Young's shakiness, I'd rather have wingers to help him if need be, so Periera wide please.

I’m pretty sure I said we were a couple of injuries away from starting Young, Matic and Mata.
I just didn’t think it would be in September.

Amazing how much we are already relying on a kid who this time last year was just getting his first starts in the Championship.

Sorry but fuck off Ole.
Matic over Fred, there is no fucking excuse.
Hope Mata is being played at 10 or once again fuck off.
