The only payroll Fletch is on is the BBC. Okay, I was being sarcastic in my previous post.
It's just that some ex players are trying to polish a turd after these games. It's one of the reasons I jettisoned MUTV a while back.
Some of these guys, ex players, have been 'optimistic' for the last 6 years.
Don't pretend that we weren't absolutely shite because you happened to play alongside Ole.
How in the name of Zeus is 'optimism' a word that comes to mind after dross is being served up most match days.

Brendon Rodgers would do a better job with what we already have, I said as much about a year ago. This was met with reactions that went from ‘meh’ to ‘politely piss off’ He’s a very good manager. And seems like less of a twat than before. Well, that's what happens when you get de-scoused.

Had we converted the 2 penalties we missed (Pogba, Rashford) we'd be in 4th place. The squad is paper thin, the players have been performing erratically, Ole looks at sea - but that really is a fine margin. Our worst start in 30 years goes to 4th place with those 2 penalties going in. There would still be questions about the squad, animus towards the board and Ed, general malaise and anger, but we'd be getting away with it. The Prem doesn't forgive dropping such easy points but it might be a bit premature to say the apocalypse is nigh.

Apparently Ole genuinely thinks that we’ve played well in six out of the seven league games so far.
Okay, I do realize that he’s hardly going to undermine his own position but I’m pretty sure most United fans can see when there’s almost an element of propaganda coming from most certainly the club itself and from within the hierarchy. I mean they cancelled The Paddy Crerand Show on MUTV a few weeks back.
Ole is an absolute gent and a total legend but at the same time I’m not a fucking idiot, so people within positions of power trying to tell fans like me that there’s nothing to see here when we’re literally imploding as a club makes me more suspicious of them.
We were garbage last night.

All Ole thing aside because regardless of what he says or does its not going to change things. Even Fergie himself couldn't fix this mess.
We're fucked. Can see this season being as frustrating as the previous 3 or 4 put together.

I’d suspect that Ole has done a better job communicating his long term vision/plan to his ex playing mates than he has to the fans. This is probably because he can be brutally honest behind closed doors and can’t stand in front of the support and say we’re gonna take 3 years to get back to a competitive level on account of the squad and board being rubbish. He’s shipped as much of the dead wood as he could (which have all been correct decisions) and has bought very well in the transfer market (within the constraints of Ed). He’s transforming the squad as best as possible given the current realities of life under Ed/Glazers. It’s not fast enough for the majority of fans bc we all want instant success, but the lack of urgency is down to Ed/Glazers, not Ole. Given time, there’s no reason Ole won’t eventually succeed, hence the optimism from the ex pros.

Saw a report (believe it was in the Express) where the Glazers believe it will take about 6 transfer windows to get us competing again. So to their credit they're accounting for their own incompetency.

A lot will depend on where we finish as to how long it will take. No top player in Europe is going to want to come here in the shit state we're currently in and any player that does will be labeled a merc anyway.
We need left back cover or even a replacement if Shaw can't stay fit, at least one central midfielder, one of those to replace Pogba who will hopefully be shipped out in the summer, a right sided winger and a striker. There's no excuse to not get those positions strengthened within the next two or three windows. That's including the January windows aswell.
However we know the board are bottle jobs and shithouses who don't give a fuck about the football aspect of the club. We can say goodbye to any European football for a while if these changes aren't done.

Yeah agree on Shaw. He needs a strong challenger at the very least, probably a replacement. Don't think he does enough, very suspect positioning defensively and honestly he can be as lazy as anyone else with the way he fucking trots back at times. Then there's the injury record. We need a reliable player back there so we never have to see Young there again.

I will point out that i was the first on here to champion signing Shaw, around Jan 2013.
My criticisms of him are because he CAN do better. A lot better. Not because i don't rate him.
He's become lazy and entitled like the rest of our massively under performing squad.
