2-2 over two legs against the worst team in the competition and the first or second worst defence!

After this Levitt and Garner at the very least should be considered for Sunday, especially if McTominay is still out. I'd even add Gomes to the squad aswell.

It was a poor game but I can't get over the amount of people losing their shit on social media over this game. If we had to win to qualify fair enough but he would have fielded a stronger side had that been the need.
The OleOut brigade are in full force tonight so it seems. Fuck I hate our fanbase sometimes.

Thought the young lads did well, massive difference coming from playing reserve level to a packed stadium against professionals.
Bizarre levels of criticism, we could and should have won this had it not been for Chong's miss.
He needs gametime, but looks like he might well opt out of the club without renewing his contract. Reminds me a bit of Januzaj at times, curious to see if he makes the step up to high level football.
So great to see us making waves for the right reasons, playing so many youth players is something I love seeing in association with United.
Onwards.

we could have qualified top last night and then kept the kids in for the last game. but now we need to change it up a little bit. does it matter that much in the Europa where you finish anyways ?

It does matter to an extent because some decent teams will be dropping from the champions league into some of the last 32 spots. It could be any combination of Borussia Dortmund, Inter, Valencia and Chelsea so finishing top should technically help us avoid a tough draw in the next round.

We can still finish top so last nights game didn't mean anything 2bh. Was just a nice reward for some other youngsters to get a call up. On Chong, the lad clearly has talent, not sure if its nerves or if he's trying to hard but a loan move will do him the world of good and is the only real option if he wants to succeed here, it's down to whether he signs a new deal or not. Hope he stays and works on the areas he needs to though.

Qualifying is the main focus which we've done with 2 games spare.

Overall it is definitely a positive for the youth (experience, fringe players getting a run out) and first team (avoided travel, conditions, another crap performance/result).
Still a bit of a shit one.

It did serve up a few positive performances though.
Though Laird was lively on the right. Always looking at bringing the ball forwards. Another reason to not use Ashley Young again.
Levitt was decent in the middle aswell, passing the ball around nicely enough. Will be a useful addition to the first team leasing into the new year to strengthen the midfield, as with Garner. Even more so if Pereira and Fred play again like thet did last Sunday.
Gomes was decent aswell, unlucky with what could have been a lovely free kick towards the end if not for a fine stop. Another reason to not use Lingard again.
So there were positives but aye overall it wasn't great, nice but of experience for them though.
