The universe has punished me for my recent United induced lethargy. My recording failed. Will have to wait until this arvo for the replay, but at least it’s a game to look forward to (for a nice change!) Well worth it. I enjoyed the backs to the wall defending almost as much as the first half attacking flair, although knowing the result probably made it more so! (no stress)

Fred and Scott seem to work very well together. Neither put a foot wrong today. Their chemistry could well be the making of our season Both excellent vs Spurs too.

Lingard is the player we need to upgrade. He did well yesterday, played his part on the counters and worked his arse off. But the quality on the ball just isn’t there. Maddison behind the front 3 would be incredible as he possesses most of Lingard’s qualities but does have a killer pass in him. And a goal.

So Ole knows how to beat teams that come at us and want to play, now he needs to deal with teams that sit back and defend its his achilles heel.

Must admit that I woke up this morning feeling fine.
That silly smile on my face wipes away any thought about players who need to be replaced... for now!

Lingard has done enough the last 2 games to keep that position for the time being before we do upgrade. He hasn't pulled up any trees but certainly contributed to the attack with his movement and pace. Rather have him in there than Mata.

It’s obvious to everyone we’re a fantastic counter attacking side. There’s no doubt about that, because our record against teams that want to come out and play against us, under Ole, is terrific. We loved to counter under Fergie too, but we were also able to unpick those stubborn defences. Right now we don’t have the quality in this side to do that, so we’ll continue to struggle against the poorer sides, and we’ll probably continue to see these kinds of results against the better ones.
Anyway, AWB and Lindelof were excellent, as were the two in midfield. Lindelof has really turned up these last two games, which you wouldn’t have really expected because he’s been dog shit this season.
Everyone’s covered the game in great detail in here so I won’t bother. Just from watching MOTD this morning, I was really proud of how Ole tackled the racism issue. Pep mentioned a statement from the club etc, which is fine, but Ole actively just said he should be ashamed of himself and banned for life. Whether or not he’s cut out to be a long term manager of Manchester United, the bloke is a legend and has more integrity in his little finger than most managers have in their entire bodies. A class act. When it’s all said and done and we move on from Ole, he’ll have given us some good days at least.

He links up well with Rashford, creates space and puts the opposition on the back foot

We are good at counter attacking but you have to have other ways to break teams down as mentioned a good no. 10 is vital for this.

So, on Rashford being fouled for the penalty: after the foul, the referee let the play continue and David Silva tried to lob DeGea from about halfway but it went over the bar. Then he checked VAR and awarded the penalty. If Silva's shot had gone in, would that goal have stood *and* then Rashford takes the penalty? Or would the penalty call nullify the play afterwards? I'm thinking it would have nullified Silva's goals, and imagine the scenes had that happened. Yeah it would have nulified it. I also think the ref knew it was a pen but why blow the whistle if you don't have to make the decision for yourself?

I couldn't watch the game live yesterday as I was moving apartment. And I really managed to not check the score and no one texted me. So around the time the game finished, we also finished, everyone who helped left, I sat down and started watching the whole game with a six pack. What a journey it was. After City scored I was battling myself not to look up the final score. Had the phone in my hands several times but constantly told myself only a few minutes to get through, don't ruin your experience.
What a fantastic game that was, pure joy, our counter attacking football is just scintillating.
