Signing players like Grealish won’t move us forward. Neither will having to play the likes of Lingard and (sadly now) Mata. If you pay the money Villa want, then Grealish has to start. If you sign someone like Cantwell, ideally for about 30, then he can be a bench option unless he plays so well he has to be picked every week. We can’t keep saying ‘our squad depth is shite’ and then decree every potential depth signing as ‘Not Utd quality’ Sometimes players develop. A few of us were givien the full torches treatment for suggesting Mane a few years ago. It’s a low bar being better than Lingard or Mata. Grealish would cost a bomb regardless and would take up most of our budget which is small if you consider that we’re going to have to sell a number of players to buy Sancho if the mornings rags are to be believed.

I do wonder how much Grealish would actually cost. Corona and relegation could push the price down to a far more reasonable £40m or so if we're lucky. At that price more clubs will be in but most will have their own corona-related financial problems.

Definitely, Grealish is way behind them imho. As what, defensive midfielders? It’s like comparing apples and oranges. As footballers,I just think there are better options out there, Neves if you want an AM, Ndidi if you want DM.

And ALL of the aforementioned depends on what our esteemed CEO, and those parasites in USA are willing to shell, Covid or no. Unless all of this this “in the dark” etc, etc is a massive bluff?

Grealish at £50 million max is reasonable, however, I’d want it to be a move in addition to Sancho not the alternative. Not sure if posted already but the mirror reporting that Ole must sell before we bring in any new signings. Smalling, Pereira, Lingard, Jones and Sanchez on the list of permanent outgoings.

I think the headline about that was more dramatic than it really is. They wan5 to take about 400 grand off the wage bill. Which actually makes sense. Sanchez gets paid an obscene amount to do absolutely fuck all for the club, same for Jones and Lingard. Smalling at least has resurrected his career over in Italy and we should get a few quid for him despite his age.

Not read the headline, but if it says Ole needs to sell to buy it'd be hugely unfair on him as he's not the one incapable of selling any players, Woowar is. Ole has almost certainly said at least half a dozen players can be let go, if not more. Woowar should absolutely be looking to sell, but he shouldn't be allowed to hamstring the progress of the team (via buying players) because of his own imcompetence (this time at selling). Of course he's been allowed to hamstring the team for nearly a decade now, but the principle still holds.

We've got Chelsea in the semis. With a fully fit team, I think we have the edge.

Beautiful player.

Imagine if we'd signed Pirlo and asked him to play as a 10. That is the easiest equivalent I can think of.
We'd all have said Fergie was losing his marbles.
